Scandal erupts around Bennett

I really can't get my head around this. Is Bennett saying that he deserved the money because he wrote the book? Or is he saying that all three of them wrote the book? Who will Michael Barrymore sue then?

And if it's awright for Bennett to take money from News International for writing a book about A Case, why isn't awright for Kate McCann to do the same? Or did he think this wouldn't come out?

By the way, what have is Oiks got to say about this piece of staggering hypocrisy?

The Oiks haven't said a single word about it, Sabot - dumbstruck, mayhap?

IMO, Stuart Lubbock's dad and Mr Cinchy were taken in by Bennett's 'interpretation' of witness statements, etc. And they weren't to know how homophobic Bennett is, or that he seems to be obsessed with deviant sex.

It's very telling that Mr Lubbock detests Bennett.

As Bennett seems to be the prime source of the lurid inventions, I would think it's him who would be in the libel firing line? He was bragging at the weekend that Michael Barrymore hadn't sued him in 2007, so wouldn't sue now.

And merrily repeated all the original lurid inventions - clearly forgetting that they are now known to be inventions, and that Barrymore is far stronger and healthier than he was six years ago.

I suspect Bennett approached the Lubbocks, putting on his respectable, retired solicitor act - and it was downhill all the way after that?

Mr Lubbock won't have been in the best of emotional states, Bonny. Devastated by the death of his son. An ideal target for Bennett and his homophobia. But this is what Bennett does. He latches onto vulnerable people and uses them to make money. Sickening Article.

The whole scandal rather went over my head, as I'm not greatly interested in showbiz scandals. I just remember the lurid headlines, and when it turned out that Bennett was the catalyst for them, and had taken NI money, I was so horrified I had to pick my jaw off the floor.

And I suspect Bennett was planning to do the same to the McCanns.

Rumour has it that Mr. Bennett did approach The McCanns with his particular form of expertise, but The McCanns never were in need of a Disgraced Solicitor. I mean, they are hardly completely stupid. And Mr. Bennett was getting known by then, even if we had never heard of him. Sheesh, I shudder to think of what he would have done to them. Actually, best I don't speculate because it makes me feel ill. But we all know now of what he has done to other tragedies that he has latched on to.

I'd be fascinated, Tony - I doubt if the NI money is the only scandal waiting to erupt around Bennett.

His rage at Michael Barrymore for daring to speak to the media - without Bennett's permission! How very dare here! told its own story, IMO.

I suspect there is a great deal more to come out about this, none of which will reflect well on Bennett.
