It's actually surprising how many of his Lordship's ideas are now law....votes at 18 - or younger in Scotland - all day pub opening, for instance.

Good to see she's suffering with the plebs in these troubled times:

Champagne socialist's property empire: How one £2.9m north London home is just not enough for sacked 'snob' MP
Ms Thornberry lives in an Islington townhouse worth roughly £2.9million
The wealthy barrister also owns a £600,000 flat in Guildford, Surrey
MP and her husband also bought a property in Clerkenwell for £572,000

It's The Bike. Down and dirty with the peasants.

Actually, I don't really care about what happens to any of them. It's just a huge laugh from this side of The Channel.
They really shouldn't have done the dirty on The SNP, any of them. If ever there was a Pyrrhic Victory, that was it.

UKIP? I hadn't even heard of them two years ago. But all that can be hoped for now is another ill conceived Coalition, and for many years to come. That'll put paid to their hash.

Ah no, the peasants don't use bikes, Sabot. These days, bikes are purely the territory of a particular kind of irritating, middle class lefty that wants to show they're aware.

They cycle around to show they are right-on with environmental issues, then get Waitrose to deliver stacks of organically-grown fruit and veg from Africa that's all been freighted  in on airliners.

Champagne socialists are the absolute pits, I cannot stand them. They  have NOTHING in common with genuinely working class people, though they do talk down to them a lot.

There have been Champagne Socialists for as long as I can remember, Bonny. And I am knocking on a bit.

The only thing that amazed me was that no one else in my environment, including my own horribly working class family could see it. And that was before I left home at eighteen.
But you didn't argue with my Dad about that sort of thing.

I will never understand why Britain voted out Churchill after The War. It still grieves me.

Express Owner Desmond Hands £300k To UKIP
The newspaper proprietor is to bolster the party's election war chest with a £300,000 donation, Sky News learns.

By Mark Kleinman, City Editor

The Daily Express owner Richard Desmond has agreed to donate £300,000 to UKIP, bolstering the party's war chest less than five months before the general election.

Sky News has learnt that Mr Desmond pledged the money to help Nigel Farage, the UKIP leader, ahead of a poll which some political commentators believe could result in the party holding the balance of power at Westminster.

Mr Desmond and Mr Farage are understood to have discussed the businessman’s donation at a meeting earlier this month.

It was unclear on Friday whether Mr Desmond has actually handed over the money yet or merely committed to doing so.

The news of Mr Desmond's impending financial support for the party strongly increases the prospect of the Express newspaper titles endorsing UKIP ahead of next May's poll.

Mr Desmond has expressed public support for Mr Farage's immigration policies and the extent of Brussels' influence over Britain's domestic affairs.

A recent Daily Express leader column reflected the stance of its proprietor: "Nigel Farage's message is hugely popular across Britain. Huge numbers of people are sick of the EU, sick of mass immigration and sick of a political elite that refuses to listen to the electorate," it said.

The media tycoon is also understood to have pledged additional financial backing for UKIP during his discussions with Mr Farage, although it is unclear how large future sums might involve.

"He is sitting on a billion pounds of cash," one ally of Mr Desmond's said.

There has been speculation that Mr Desmond could be recommended for a peerage by Mr Farage, although some have suggested that the Jewish newspaper owner becoming closer to the party could be complicated by UKIP's affiliation with controversial right-wing parties elsewhere in Europe.

More at link.

I didn't realise just how much money UKIP now has. Bennett must be kicking himself for getting thrown out for extremism.

Yes, I've seen assorted pompous people complaining because it was 'undignified', etc. I don't think they grasp that so many people are bored rigid by politics these days because it's always the same talking heads, and identical shiny men/plastic women preaching at them.

But a fight between the audience and that tw@t Brand? A fight between the panelists? A fight between the audience and the panelists, with no-one sticking to the same old, oh-so-polite, PC script? Wonderful - that will engage people as no tedious lecture from a CamClegMillipede clone can possibly do.

Nigel Farage's Question Time war of words with Russell Brand continued today after he claimed the millionaire comedian had a personal stylist on set who straightened his chest hair.

Seriously, can you imagine Cameron and co ever coming out with a wonderful insult like that? rofl rofl

I think Nigel did himself much good on that panel. Not that I care if he wins. I just want the others rent asunder.

He did say when asked, that he wasn't the rich one on the panel. They all played into his hands very nicely
