Ah well, none of this would have come out if Amaral hadn't made such a cock up and tried to stitch up The McCanns.

Would anyone really want to go to a holiday resort where the operators have been covering up sex attacks on children? Pcorneater

Re: The Yard back in Portugal

Post  bb1 on Sun Jan 04, 2015 2:35 pm

I recall, a few years ago, there was a spate of naive Brits being targetted by criminals in Florida, Lily.

Did the US police shrug and say it was their own fault, or even worse, try to blame the victims? No, of course not, they went the extra mile to catch the scum responsible. And the local communities did everything possible to help the distressed holidaymakers.

Which is as it should be, and Florida is still one of the top holiday destinations for Brits.

It's not the crime itself, that, sadly, can happen anywhere. It's this bizarre Algarve attitude that it's always the victim's fault, and everything is perfect in their uniquely crime-free Eden that is the problem.

And mad ex-pat harpies screeching on TV, disgusting graffiti abusing the UK police and insulting crime victims doesn't really do much for PDL's image as a nice place for a family holiday.

Yes, they should own their shortcomings and try their level best to deal with it properly. People would then have more confidence in the place.

Quote from: Brietta on Today at 11:14:15 AM
I could add the rejoinder
... little did innocent holidaymakers know the dark underbelly of drugs, drug related crime, burglaries, assaults on children and the British gift of numerous itinerant paedophiles who seemed to be attracted to this apparently sleepy little town which was and is marketed as the perfect holiday venue for families with their children.

Well said on Injustice!

Re: The Yard back in Portugal

According to that person that's a member of the Hounders as Harry_Lime...

http://portugalresident.com/exclusive-%E2%80%9Cmark-warner-pulls-out-of-praia-da-luz%E2%80%9D-the-real-story

News that holiday company Mark Warner has pulled out of Praia da Luz’s Ocean Club resort has been doing the rounds of mainstream media - particularly in UK - and been angled to suggest that the holiday resort has somehow been further stigmatised by the legacy of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

In fact, we are told, what has happened promises to bring a whole new wave of business both to the Ocean Club and the village of Luz.

Portugal Resident got wind of the story before Christmas when internet forums began speculating that “the curse of the McCanns has finally done it to Praia da Luz”.

They were reacting to the announcement online by The Vacation Company website which said: “We regret to inform you that Mark Warner no longer have a contract with the Ocean Club and therefore this property has been removed from their Summer 2015 programme with immediate effect.”

But as Ocean Club manager Donna Hill told us, they were reacting without knowing the facts.

Mark Warner’s owners, Mark Chitty and Andrew Searle, had simply decided to offer the Ocean Club exclusively to travel company Thomas Cook.

Chitty and Searle’s holiday company has pulled out of Portugal - not because of any fall-off in business over the disappearance of Madeleine McCann but because Thomas Cook has offered them “a very good deal”, said Ms Hill.

“We’re all excited about it,” she added. “This is actually a golden opportunity for the Ocean Club as now everyone staying here will come from the same operator and we will be able to offer the same services for all our guests.

“This didn’t happen before as we had some people staying on the resort that came through Mark Warner and others that didn’t.

“It made organising activities extremely difficult, whereas now we’ll be able to put things on for everyone equally.

“We are all looking forward to it - and we’re hoping for an excellent 2015 season!”

In fact, despite the Madeleine “legacy” which still sees periodic moments of media chaos as police return to the Algarve to initiate new inquiries, business in Luz has been steadily growing with locals last year reporting a very good summer all round.

“It’s what everyone wants,” explained one shopkeeper. “We all just want to get on with our lives and our businesses and forget the bad press attached to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.”

Meeting on the Maddie case between British police and Portuguese authorities

A British police team was today reunited with the Public Ministry and the Judicial Police, also because of the Madeleine McCann case. The working meeting was to make a progress report to the investigation of the child's disappearance.

Re: The Yard back in Portugal

My friends, this was taken from Correio da Manhã newspaper:

http://www.cmjornal.xl.pt/nacional/portugal/detalhe/pgr_recebe_ingleses.html

PGR receives English

A working meeting with the Portuguese authorities to strengthen cooperation in searches.

Hour and a half meeting. The stage was the Attorney General's Office; the protagonists, British and Portuguese authorities. The goal was the same as has already caused other such meetings. Strengthen the link between the authorities of both countries, cementing bonds that allow a joint investigation to clarify the Maddie case.

The leader of the British police team, Nicola Wall, was one of attending the meeting. The side of the Judicial Police, the representation was taken by Pedro do Carmo magistrate, assistant national director. Also the attorney general district and the investigation of the holder which remains open in Faro County were present. It was also asked to participate a representative of the Attorney General of the English Republic and the British ambassador.

This was the second meeting of Nicola Wall with the highest representatives of the process. The British investigator replaced Andy Redwood, who retired from the Metropolitan Police Service.

Nicola Wall transferred from the Homicide and Serious Crimes division to Operation Grange, investigating the disappearance of the British child, the May 3, 2007, the room where she slept with two twin brothers, in an apartment of a tourist village, in Praia da Luz in the Algarve.

The case was closed and then reopened, but nothing new was found. All scenarios remain open.

CdM making up sh*te for Team Gonzo again, are they? It's glaringly obvious that new information HAS been found. Which is why the investigation is ongoing......

I have no idea, Sabot, the formalities of Portuguese law are a mystery to me. The real clue is that CdM is bullsh*tting, as usual.

I wonder why the British Ambassador and a representative from the British Attorney General's Office were invited to attend. Is this usual?

The British Ambassador wasn't there, half-wit.

a representative of the Attorney General of the English Republic and the British ambassador

It was a representative.

Oh, and has there been a revolution? Monarchy overthrown, UK broken up without us knowing?

Foi ainda chamado a participar um representante da Procuradoria-Geral da República inglesa, bem como o embaixador britânico.

WTF is the 'English republic?' Is that supposed to read, An English-speaking representative of the Republic, and of the British Ambassador?

CdM doesn't half talk some sh*te; doubtless they have scrambled their brains looking at the disgusting photos from one of their beloved Sex Fairs that were all over the cover this week.

No wonder it's the Forkers' Bible!

Sez Bennett:

Thank you once again for posting this news, NickE, it's very helpful.

As G-Unit has rightly questioned, and if the translation is correct in suggesting that someone from the U.K. Attorney-General's Department AND the British Ambassador were present at this meeting, it is clearly significant.
....usual tedious blah blah redacted.

It doesn't look like it's the translation that's wrong.

It's the whole, original CartofMuck story.

WHERE THE HELL IS THE 'ENGLISH REPUBLIC'? Have they all gone blind at CdM, due to staring at pervy 'sex fairs' for too long?

Haters and hounders still haven't grasped it wasn't a particularly 'high level conference', contrary to their imaginings.

There was an English-speaking representative from the office of Portugal's Attorney General, and a representative from the British Embassy.

All perfectly simple and routine in international matters.

Unless, of course, they believe that there is such a thing as the ENGLISH REPUBLIC.
