An excellent find by Myths, on the subject of twitter:

Twitter: Is it dying?

https://medium.com/bad-words/why-twitter-s-dying-and-what-you-can-learn-from-it-9ed233e37974

Why Twitter’s Dying (And What You Can Learn From It)

In all these endless squabbles, this perpetual outrage, this non-stop-cabaret of electronic violence…we are not fighting over anything that means anything much in the first place. Is it any wonder, then, that people are checking out of this childish game?

For anything except actual news - 'There's been an earthquake, etc' - twatter is pointless, just a gathering place of lunatics with keyboards - one look at the game-playing hater trolls on #mccann is enough to confirm that.

Why on earth Mutton and her ilk imagine twatter is more important than the Battle of Waterloo rather escapes anyone with an IQ greater than their shoe size.....

That's it. Twitter is only useful for breaking news on subjects of far more importance than hounding any old person that takes their fancy.

Twitter really needs to do something about the morons that have hijacked it.

The bosses don't care, Sabot. They will only do something about the monster they've created when it starts costing them money.

How exactly does Twitter earn money, Bonny? Although I suppose they must.

This explains it better than I ever could:

A number of ways currently:
Google and Microsoft's bing pay Twitter to license the tweet firehose so that they can include those tweets in their real-time search results.
Companies such as Starbucks, Virgin America and Red Bull pay for "promoted tweets," which can appear in Twitter Search results.
Companies can pay for "promoted trends" which appear on the main twitter timeline page with the trending topics. Disney/Pixar recently did this to promote Toy Story 3. Coca-Cola saw 86 million impressions in the first 24 hours for it's promoted trend during World Cup. (Note that the trend name didn't reference Coke, just World Cup.) Coke claimed an amazing 6% engagement. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/6726ef...
Companies can promote themselves to potential followees on a cost-per-follow basis. The typical range for this is 50 cents to $5 per follow
...more at link.

Remember, for all the noise it makes, and all the trouble it causes, #mccann is a tiny, tiny part of the twitter empire - just as, for all the hater delusions of importance, all things McCann are an infinitesimally small part of the internet.

Oh no!!  You have shocked me to the core.  You mean that all this much vaunted public opinion re: the McCanns, is but a tiny tiny dot in the Twitter ether?

How will the antis be able to cope with zero influence in the real world?  Bummer.

If he's concerned about the future of tw@tter, then maybe he shouldn't be hanging round with the most abusive trolls, like JCL and McFadden the WUM.
