Kate and Gerry hit back at 'ignorant' 'Ill-informed' star after she accuses them on TV

Outspoken star Sharon Osbourne has been blasted by the parents of missing Madeleine McCann after she branded them “insane” for leaving their daughter alone.

Former X Factor judge Sharon made the hurtful claims on her US chat show The Talk as she criticised parents for leaving children without supervision.

In a clear attack on Kate and Gerry McCann, Sharon said: “I will tell you a very quick story. There was a husband and wife on holiday in Portugal.

“They left their baby in the room sleeping, sleeping while they went to dinner in the restaurant.

“While they were in the resort their baby was taken. And it is like, ‘Oh but we can see everything that is going on’ and it is, like, insane.”

The comments on Friday’s CBS show have outraged Kate and Gerry.

A family friend said: “It’s very ­disappointing when someone with such a high profile makes this sort of ­ignorant, ill-informed comment.

“She should think about the effect it could have on Madeleine’s brother and sister, as well as the wider family.

“Kate and Gerry have never forgiven themselves and this should not have been aired in a random way, as it ­apparently was.

“It’s based on ignorance of the true facts. While she’s entitled to her view she should keep it to herself.”

Maddie was snatched from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007, days before her fourth birthday and has never been found.

Kate and Gerry were with other parents at a restaurant a few hundred metres away and the adults took it in turns to pop back to check on their kids.

Sharon, 63, and her panellists were discussing a thread on Mumsnet social media site. A British woman had asked if parents would leave a 10-month-old child sleeping peacefully at home for seven minutes.

Another questioned whether it was acceptable to leave a baby sleeping while they picked something up ­approximately 50 metres away.

Reacting to the suggestion, mum-of-three Sharon said: “This is insane. It is like so many things happen in just a second. If you leave a candle on and the curtain blows on it and it caught on fire.

“And I think of all these scenarios in my head and there is no way in a million years that you would ever do that.”

Kate and Gerry, of Rothley, Leics, have previously admitted being plagued by guilt over missing Maddie

Days after her abduction dad Gerry said: “Hindsight has proven we made a mistake and we would never leave the children again.”

And as Kate launched her book, Madeleine, in 2011, Gerry said: “Blaming us takes it away from the abductor. Someone stole a child. Of course we feel guilt. But it doesn’t bring the child back. So we tried to take control of things you can influence, to help the search.”

Kate said: “People say, ‘Why didn’t you get a babysitter?’ Having a babysitter implied there was a risk situation and we just didn’t see it like that.

“We didn’t think it was necessary. It wasn’t to save money.”

But she later added: “It goes without saying that we now bitterly regret it.” Cardiologist Gerry has also said: “Who’s thinking about child abductions in a little sleepy out-of-season tourist resort?

“It never entered our minds. We felt very safe — it was a family resort.

“At home you put your kids to bed and go off and do things about the house and garden and don’t think about it.

“We were checking on our kids only metres away. After, we were consumed with guilt. But we can’t change it.”
Sharon’s publicist was approached for comment but did not respond.

But the star – in talks to return to The X Factor – faced a backlash from the families of other missing children.

Sandy Davidson, three, vanished in Irvine, North Ayrshire, in 1976 after trying to catch his dog which had run loose. He had been playing with his sister Donna, who is now 42. Last night she criticised Sharon, saying: “The McCann’s have been through an horrific ordeal and comments like this are unhelpful. People like this should stop passing judgment.

“I’ve met Kate a couple of times and we share their pain. They are victims.”

Meanwhile Nicki Durbin, who is friends with the McCanns, has spent 10 years searching for son Luke, 19 – last seen in Ipswich after a night out.

Nicki, 47, said: “If you had to walk in our shoes, then perhaps your perception would be different.”

Sharon is currently dealing with marital issues over claims rock star husband Ozzy, 67, had a fling with LA hair stylist Michelle Pugh.

Hours before her chat show Ozzy was seen with Sharon and their dog Bella, jumping into a car in Beverly Hills.

Silly moo - she's scarcely a Perfect Parent herself - we all saw more than enough about the Osborne home life.

Still, anything for attention when your husband's sh*gging your hairdresser - but she might have come up with something more original than bleating that ancient hater favourite-

Ah yes! I recall watching their At Home With The Osbornes show years ago, Lily, and wouldn't have thought she was in a position to criticise anyone, considering the state of her own family at that time.

Well remember that their household was a chaotic one because of alcoholism and drugs?  She knows better than to criticize others.

Predictably, the McCann-haters are in fits of joyful one-handed typing about this bit of bitchery. Indeed, Mrs Osborne seems to have replaced sausage-up-bum uber-troll Hopkins as their pin-up girl.

Does it never, ever occur to them to wonder why no-one normal ever supports their odious cause? Hardly surprising that ageing zelebs should be drawn to bad-mouthing the McCanns like moths to flames - anything to avoid sinking into obscurity.

Mrs Osborne has clearly never heard the saying about pots and kettles.

Personally, I find her appalling child-raising skills far more reprehensible than the McCanns making one bad mistake. She somehow failed to notice that her son Jack was an alcoholic drug user before he was 15 - but she sees fit to set herself up as a Perfect Parent.

Her daughter was in and out of rehab, and now makes a living making bitchy remarks about other women, despite her own rather peculiar appearance.

And now her husband is apparently sh*agging some hairdresser - anyone sane can do without lectures on family values from Mrs Osborne.

Never mind, it's given the hate squad a new Pied Piper, and a few fresh sites to hatespam with their endless, tedious bleats of BBUTTT TTHHHEYYYY LLEFFFFTTTT TTTHHEMMM ALLLONE.

Yes, we know, sweetcheeks.

Now, how about some criticism for scumbags that take sleeping children from their beds?

Or is that not so much fun as pitchforking the parents of missing children?

Incidentally, Ms Osborne might like to remember that she had NO idea where her children were, or what they were doing, or who with, in their younger years.

Unless she was present when her son became addicted to drink and drugs before he was 15 right under her nose, with her looking on? Her own family issues are a bit too well documented for her to try to rewrite recent history and play the Perfect Parent card.

One can only assume she's had one injection of Botox too many, and it's affected her memory.

Er Sabot, the lurid stories about the Osborne clan have been in the public domain for years. They were one of the first to invite reality TV cameras into their home. The series got huge viewing figures, because Osborne Family Life was like watching a slow-motion train wreck.

Sharon Osborne is in no position to criticise ANYONE'S parenting skills.

Michelle Pugh, 45, has returned to work following the storm over her alleged relationship with the Black Sabbath frontman – which saw him booted out of his family home.

Co-workers at the posh Meche salon, in LA, where Michelle has worked for a decade, posted a picture of her latest work on their Instagram account over the weekend.

Alongside a picture of a client’s hair, the caption said: “@michpugh gave life to a blasé brunette with some beach ready #balayage.”

The picture was then re-posted onto her own account by Michelle.

The post appears to show Michelle's work mates are standing by her as the Osbourne scandal rages on.

But, in a sign of the scandal, one user on the social networking site posted an affair allegation underneath the picture, claiming: “She f***** Ozzy!!!!!”

We revealed on Saturday how the under-fire hair colourist returned to Meche for a meeting with bosses in a limousine – which Sharon Osbourne believes husband Ozzy may be paying for.....etc.

That just reminded me - the woman now slagging off the McCanns couldn't even be bothered to housetrain her dogs. One of the 'high spots' of her reality TV show was people standing in mounds of dog sh*t in the Osbourne mansion.

I expect that was the servants' job.

Not surprising to see that other parents of missing children are a little upset at failing the Shazza Perfect Parent Test - it's downright insulting, from the likes of her.

Sharon Osbourne has had her fair share of outbursts on TV, for instance.  She later regrets some things she said and did.

She certainly has a knack for making money but she will forever be a recovering addict.
