Diane Abbott's Agonising Interview Over Police Policy Cost

Post  Lamplighter on Tue May 02, 2017 11:15 am

This is Nick Ferrari's car-crash interview with Diane Abbott, in which she simply didn't know how much Labour's policy to add 10,000 more police officers would cost.

The Shadow Home Secretary was speaking to Nick Ferrari to announce Labour's new plan for police and crime ahead of the General Election.

And at one point, she claimed that the policy would cost £300,000 - the equivalent of £30 per police officer.

When asked how much the policy would cost, Ms Abbott said: "Well, erm... if we recruit the 10,000 policemen and women over a four-year period, we believe it will be about £300,000."

Nick queried the amount: "£300,000 for 10,000 police officers? What are you paying them?"

Ms Abbott tried to clarify: "Haha, no.   I mean... sorry. They will cost... they will, it will cost, erm, about... about £80million."

Again Nick asked how she got to that figure, explaining that it would mean paying the police officers an annual salary of £8,000.

Ms Abbott said: "We get to that figure because we anticipate recruiting 25,000 extra police officers a year at least over a period of four years and we're looking at what average police wages are generally, but also specifically police wages in London."

Despite struggling with how much the policy would cost, Ms Abbott insisted the plan was fully-costed and fully-thought-through, paid for by reversing the Conservative cuts to Capital Gains Tax.

You can here the full interview on the link below.   Be sure to be sitting down, and preferably not with a cup of tea as there could be some unforeseen spillage.   LL   Hahau Hahau Hahau Hahau

I just saw it on Sky News, LL, I haven't really processed the utter horror of it yet. It was even worse than Salmond's drunken interview with Andrew Neil - and that's saying something. rofl

Corbyn and Flabbot are just....just....awful.

But the Conservatives have branded the party's proposals "nonsensical", saying Labour has already pledged the cash from reversing cuts to capital gains tax (CGT) on policies on schools, arts and welfare.

It would seem they are also trying to spend the same money twice, LL. If you want to see what the UK under Corbyn and Flabbot would look like - Venezuela is the answer.

A big fan of Venezuela, is Jezza:

Terrifyingly, Lily, Flabbot doesn't even have that. She didn't even have the sense to say, Oops, missed a couple of zeros off.

No, she just kept digging herself into an ever-deeper hole. rofl rofl rofl

They never could, Lily, but don't normally make it so obvious.

Diane Abbott suffers another disastrous interview as she massively underestimates Labour's election losses.

Diane Abbott has massively underestimated Labour’s losses in the local elections in another car crash interview.

Just days after the shadow home secretary got her figures completely wrong over Labour’s policing policy she said her party had suffered a net loss of 50 seats.

However, she was then corrected by her interviewer who informed her that Labour was down by 125 seats.   More at link.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05/07/john-mcdonnell-refuses-rule-60-top-tax-rate-suggests-lot-learn/

John McDonnell faces a Labour revolt to unseat him as shadow chancellor after he said there was “a lot to learn” from Karl Marx's Das Kapital.

Shadow cabinet sources said Jeremy Corbyn’s right-hand man, who has described himself in the past as an “unapologetic Marxist”, had done nothing to help Labour’s cause with a month to go to the general election.

And while they said it was too late to mount a challenge to Mr McDonnell or Mr Corbyn before the June 8 ballot, there will be “no holding back” when Labour MPs come back to Parliament after the election.

They will mount an immediate attempt to oust Mr Corbyn and Mr McDonnell after the election, though they concede that Mr Corbyn is likely to cling on to power and resist attempts to force a leadership election.

The shadow chancellor said last year that it was “inevitable” he and Mr Corbyn would have to resign if they lost the election, but he refused to make the same prediction yesterday, saying only: “We’re going to win this election because our country needs us”.

Asked by the BBC’s Andrew Marr “are you a Marxist?”, Mr McDonnell said: “I believe there’s a lot to learn from reading Kapital, yes of course it is, and that’s been recommended not just by me but many others, mainstream economists as well.”
...etc.

The ONLY thing worth knowing about Marxism is that Das Kapital has killed many times more people than even Mein Kampf managed.
