I won't copy the whole article, but everyone should read this - it goes on in Europe, Asia, everywhere:

http://pjmedia.com/blog/seasons-in-hell-the-brutality-of-americas-modern-day-slave-trade/?singlepage=true

Seasons in Hell: The Brutality of America’s Modern Day Slave Trade

Quote:

These gangs lurk in the shadows of our cities, using the drug trade to help run the more lucrative and dangerous sex slave rings that are ubiquitous in any major metro area. Often the dealers recruit victims after hooking them on hard drugs, but it is far more common that known drug routes are used to transport illegal aliens into the country. Those illegals are billed exorbitant amounts for the trip which they can never hope to pay off and are given the option of “working” off their debts. For women and children, this means forced prostitution; for men, it is sometimes literal slave labor.

CNN have been running a series of TV documentaries on slavery across the world for some time, and it makes for very uncomfortable viewing. They also have the Freedom Project, see link below. LL

This is about Africa mainly, but it mentions India too. With thanks to the Anti-Slavery Society. Not sure if I have posted this website before.

This Anti-Slavery Society has published a whole series of easy to digest articles about trafficking and slavery around the world. Anyone interested would be enlightened bu reading some of them

?Madeleine photographed on a wo/mans back with a group in Zinat was in the Rif Mountain Area of Morocco, which is, of course in N. Africa.

FIGHTING SLAVERY TODAY

Trafficking in Children

These children are the face of the international trafficking in children today.

On 8 February 1998, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, while in Kathmandu, met an 11-year old girl who had been trafficked as a slave to India. She had just been rescued a few days before, as well as other women and children who had been trafficked for the purpose of prostitution. His Highness condemned the international trafficking of children. These children are often sold into slavery by greedy parents, or are kidnapped by traffickers or tricked by stories of respectable jobs. The girls find themselves trafficked to India, locked in rooms with bars on the windows and guarded by thugs to extinguish any hope of escape, and used by wicked men.

The international trafficking of women and children is a growing phenomenon, as thousands of women and children are trafficked by businessmen into dens around the world and harems in north Africa and the Middle East.
We also see economic pressures which force women and girls into servitude.

The material in this report is based on Missions to South Asia, South-East Asia and various parts of Africa by the Society's Secretary-General.

THE SOCIETY IN ACTION

The Society has embarked upon a program for the suppression of the international trafficking of children in the States of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka in the Republic of India.

THIS IS THE SOCIETY IN ACTION

I have developed a particular interest in trafficking of drugs and people for slavery etc.

Virtually every country still has slave labour, including the UK, according to one report I read. Sorry no longer know the source.

There is a very interesting and comprehensive Slavery Museum in Liverpool near the waterfront. It is well worth a visit. I had a couple of hours in there a few months ago. Apparently the slaves that historically used to come to the UK, in very large numbers, mainly entered via Liverpool docks.

Thanks, Sadie and LL. None of it is easy viewing or reading, but why people try to pretend it isn't still going on, I do not know.

Yes, and Bristol, too, Sadie. But to put it in context, the poor souls who worked down coal mines in Britain at the time were regarded as the property of the mine owner...unthinkable now, but it happened.

The slave trade back then was known as the Golden Triangle:
