JENNY MURAT: KATE MCCANN PRINTED SUCH AWFUL THINGS ABOUT MY ROBERT IN HER MADELEINE BOOK
Sunday December 2,2012
By James Murray
A MOTHER whose son was wrongly linked to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann has hit out at the way he is portrayed in a best-selling book about the mystery.
Briton Robert Murat was cleared of any involvement in the case four years ago but Kate McCann’s book Madelaine, about her missing daughter, has brought back painful memories for Jenny Murat, 76.
Having seen the McCanns’ suffering at the hands of the British press highlighted in last week’s Leveson report, she is anxious to stress her son’s total innocence.
She and Robert had hoped their nightmare would end in 2008 when he won £600,000 damages from British newspapers, but last night at her home on the Algarve, Mrs Murat spoke of how still the “tragedy consumes us, day in, day out”.
The widow and former nurse said: “Kate of all people should know what it is like to be wrongly accused, so how can she be comfortable repeating wrong allegations about my son in her book?”
In the book published last summer, Kate wrote: “Two officers talked openly about Robert Murat, who remained an arguido [suspect] and drip-fed us snippets of ‘evidence’ linking him to Madeleine.”
However, later in the book she writes: “Nothing we were told by the police indicated Murat took Madeleine or was in any way involved in her abduction.” Mrs Murat argues: “Surely it would have been wiser not to mention the allegations from the outset if there was ‘nothing relevant’.”
The police spotlight fell on Robert 11 days after Madeleine vanished from the McCanns’ holiday apartment in Praia de Luz, Portugal in May 2007.
Mrs Murat said: “Robert was at my home throughout that night and thankfully that is now fully accepted as fact. He did not leave once.”
She feels Robert, too, should have been called to give evidence to the Leveson inquiry.
She explained: “Again we were denied an opportunity to put our side of the story. Robert was the subject of a most disgraceful character assassination, yet was not even invited to contribute to the debate. His life has been hugely damaged. This tragedy consumes us, day in, day out.
She added: “Kate’s book and the resulting publicity did not help. I do feel sympathetic towards the McCanns and obviously wish they could find their daughter. We can’t fathom the hell they must go through but they seem oblivious to the impact all this has had on our lives and the lives of others.
“We tried our best to help, but have ended being pilloried and abused and still it goes on.”
Mrs Murat, now working on her own book about the case, added: “I am sick of all the half-truths and innuendos, so I do want a full and accurate record of the truth. It is important that our story is told.”

Re: Express: Murat's Mum Complains About Kate McCann's Book
I think young Robert might want to keep his mum away from reporters.....she seems blissfully unaware that he is a co-signatory of assorted legal documents, along with the McCanns and others.
Did he actually submit evidence to Leveson in the first place? I don't recall him doing so, but he got a special mention anyway:
Mr Robert Murat was wrongly accused of being involved in some way in the abduction and
was traduced in the British press
I will believe Mrs Murat is writing a book when I see it; I can see her son confiscating her keyboard/typewriter/pen before she drops him in it even further.
That's like one of James Murray's wierd and wonderful interviews with Lovely Sofa.

HAS GERRY MCCANN 'HARMED' SEARCH FOR MADELEINE
Sunday December 2,2012
By Tracey Kandohla
KATE McCann fears her husband’s criticism of the Prime Minister may hamper the search for missing daughter Madeleine.
Gerry McCann hit out after David Cameron rejected Lord Leveson’s call for a new press law. He said that while he respected the PM he disagreed with his viewpoint.
Kate simply urged Mr Cameron to “embrace the report and act swiftly”. A source close to the McCanns said yesterday: “Kate and Gerry are relying on the Prime Minister to keep the Scotland Yard review, which he ordered, ongoing.
“The last thing Kate wants is to annoy or upset the PM and does not want there to be any backlash.” Kate now wants reassurance from the Government that the 18-month case review will continue.
The McCanns and the parents of Milly Dowler were among victims of press intrusion who declined to meet Culture Secretary Maria Miller to discuss the report. Kate wants to reschedule the meeting. The Home Office said there was no deadline on the Met review.

'Sources'? Concocted, misleading headlines, of the very kind slammed by Lord Leveson? Stories invented out of nothing? Nice of the Express to demonstrate all over again that the press cannot be trusted to regulate itself.

That article is such a pile of same old same old shite. And I bet Jenny Murat is having a fit about how they have twisted her words. Although you might think that she would know better than to talk to Journalists.
But at least we now know that she is writing a Book. Nothing like a bit of free publicity. And The Hounders will buy it.
Robert Murat is almost certainly not happy about this.

To be honest, you can (if this is true), understand Kate's thoughts. If Gerry is lambasting Cameron and the Government, they could get funny.
I doubt it but you can understand her concerns

A forker deludes itself:
Firstly, good on Jenny Murat - what she has had to put up with these past five years doesn't bear thinking about.
What? Robert Murat was cleared at the same time as the McCanns. The hassle since then has mainly come from three sources:
Their beloved Gonc, spreading the cat-raping and other unfounded, disgusting, stories all over the place.
Their beloved Bennett, spreading Gonc's foul stories all over the place and keeping 'dossiers' on Murat.
Their beloved Birch, who they were all cheering on when he was hiding in Mrs Murat's garden and demanding it be dug up.
How quickly they forget!

I do not believe that Kate McCann has got any concerns, Muratfan. This is just more Bolloxs.
What is Cameron going to do? Stop The Review? That would be a good one for Public Opinion.

I blame Cameron for this, muratfan. His spineless behaviour has given out a very bad signal indeed.
Well done, Express, you've proved the press cannot be trusted to regulate itself - I can't remember the last time I saw invented rubbish like this in a UK paper.

Something stinks here. Is it Mrs Murat making a few euro's, or the Express trying to get their own back?

Maggs, I would think the Express phoned her, she made a few remarks off-the-cuff, and it's been twisted out of all recognition.
If there is one book she should be complaining about, it's Gonc's - there is some utterly foul material in it about her son, which, unlike Kate McCann, Gonc does NOT make clear is false.
I would not be at all surprised if Mrs Murat said something like, One of these days I'll write a book about this, the sort of thing we all say, and it's been twisted in print.
I really don't see Murat wanting his mum to go into the book business...
Also, remember all that guff in the Express a while back from Lovely Sofa about her beloved's 'new book'? That turned out to be a crock.

As far as I can see, Kate was only pointing out what had been done to them all. There is no accusation against Robert Murat in those words. In fact, Gerry is on record as saying that Robert Murat should be treated in the same way that he expect himself and Kate to be treated. Innocent until Proven Guilty.
I am yet again appalled by what The Press think they can get away with.

Re: Express: Murat's Mum Complains About Kate McCann's Book
IMO, the Express has mangled whatever was actually said in that interview to get a lurid headline:
“We tried our best to help, but have ended being pilloried and abused and still it goes on.”
Not from the McCanns it doesn't. As Robert Murat was also an arguido, Kate McCann could hardly leave that out of her book, but she put it in its historic context.
Since then, Robert Murat and the McCanns have been co-signatories on campaigning documents.
So, who HAS been hassling them?
Gonc and Birch, is the answer - oh, and Bennett.
I am sure that, if Robert Murat's legal people had made a submission to Leveson, he would have been welcomed to give evidence. But if no submission was made, he could not be called.
This whole 'interview' stinks, IMO, and I doubt if Robert Murat is very impressed with the Express right this minute.

I agree partly, Bonny. But why speak at all?, she could have told Murray to, do one. After all its she that said the McCanns suffered at the hands of the British Press.

I am seeing her as an elderly woman, Maggs, caught on the hop by a UK journo being polite and well-spoken.
I certainly don't blame her for whatever mangled nonsense has fetched up in the Express.
And I don't see her son being one bit happy about this, he has made it very clear he wants a quiet life and generally leaves his legal people to deal with these things.
I don't blame him one bit; until that Panorama interview, it hadn't dawned on me that Amoral had threatened him too. He of all people will know what Gonc and co are capable of, and while Gonc is pretty much a spent force now, that fear will never entirely go away.
So no, I don't think he will be impressed with his aged parent right this minute.

The problem is that The Hounders and Forkers don't want to know about the truth of what was said. And they are using this to spew yet more abuse, by twisting it even more than The Express has done.
More pain for The McCanns, but who cares if it sells Newspapers.
And I doubt that Cameron will take note.
I don't get to Vote in UK anymore, even if I wanted to. But some of the 100,000 who have signed that petition will remember.
But who on earth is UK going to put in their place? None of them are fit for purpose Where is Screaming Lord Such when you need him?

If there is one thing that petition is proving, Sabot, it's that the forkers and hounders who lap up this sh*te are very much a minority. So if the Express is thinking of pandering to that market, then it is just a matter of time before it goes bust.
Anyway, the McCann-haters have gone back to 'debating' Kate's hair and jacket, which is about their dead strength.

I am an aged parent of approximately the same age as Jenny Murat, and if this was my son then The Express Reporter would have gotten a mouth full of Anglo Saxon abuse, most of which I have latterly learned from The Internet Forkers. And I shudder to think of what any of my sons would have to say to me if I had been so stupid.

Ah yes, apologies, I thought she was in her 80's for some reason....she maybe doesn't realise that it's a bad idea to speak to the media without a witness present, preferably a lawyer.
She mentions Leveson, so it can't be that old. I can't find any trace of Murat making a submission, and without that, how could he be heard as a complainant?
And even without that, Lord Leveson spoke about his shocking treatment.
I think Robert needs to have a long talk with his mum.
