Two million euros for tornado victims
Updated: 30-Nov-2012

Providing support to the families and municipalities affected by the tornado that tore through the Algarve on November 16, the government has made available an emergency fund of €2 million, announced the Secretary of State of Solidarity and Social Security Marco António Costa on Saturday (November 24).

In addition, the government has opened an “exceptional fund” within the state budget for 2013, which allows for both councils to request bank loans to finance any work necessary to renovate public infrastructures hit by the storm.

According to the Secretary of State, the emergency fund should be enough to cover the damages, as the first estimates point to €2.29 million in losses, part of which will be covered by insurance companies.

That's good, I am sure it will be welcome news.
