I do hope Carly Michelle is okay, along with the rest of the Wild Life in Tasmania. Not to forget the rest of the people.
Tasmania has long fascinated me.

Lovely place; pity about one of the less-civilised inhabitants....

See, this is what I mean about rain, it never seems to fall where it's really needed.

Well, Tasmania is upside down, Bonny, so the rain probably falls up.
Bit of a disaster though. Apparently they are rescuing people from the beaches.

It must be terrifying, and probably worse than floods, because the fires destroy everything in their path?

Poor souls; their town has been wiped out.

I suppose that I have always seen Tasmania as Britain at the other side of The World.
The latitude and longitude are more or less the same. Not that I think that Britain is all that amazing, but Tasmania is a new country by comparison.
We do have the odd nasty fire here, but provisions are always in place and certain rules must be obeyed. No Bonfires of any kind between April and October. And this can be extended if necessary. And woe betide anyone who doesn't check first. But basically, you just have to use common bloody sense.
We have so many trees in France, and so much beautiful Bracken that a mere spark could set it off when it has been dry for weeks.
But I do know that it is reported to the local Marie if anyone is daft enough to break the rules. I would even do so myself.
So, it's a pain in the neck trying to light a sodden bonfire, but far from impossible. And then you have to stand there and watch it because even newly chopped Fir will catch fire and spark. So have a hose on standby, and don't light a bonfire when the wind is blowing. Such basic and ordinary rules.
Not that anyone can do anything much about Arson.

Hopefully everyone is safe, except Chucky's internet conection
