KATE McCann has been thrust into a global bidding war as TV chat shows and news giants battle to try and sign her up for talks on the 10th anniversary of daughter Madeleine’s disappearance.

The anguished mum, who has no idea if Maddie is dead or alive after nearly a decade, has been offered huge bids for an exclusive interview, a friend said today.

But Kate, still reeling from her shock libel defeat against a former Portuguese cop this week while trying to enjoy her younger twins’ 12th birthdays, has not yet considered any deal.

The ex GP and heart doctor husband Gerry now face sizeable court costs after losing their civil action on appeal and previously-won but not paid £360,000 damages which they had been ring-fencing for the ongoing search for Maddie.

The brave parents are bracing themselves for the heart wrenching 10th anniversary of Maddie’s kidnap in just 12 weeks.

Breakfast telly queen Lorraine Kelly and a pal of Kate’s could be a firm favourite although ITV would probably only pay a fraction of a fee being offered by brash American broadcasters.

One has told Kate and husband Gerry: “Name your price!”

A close friend of the McCann’s said: “They have been bombarded with offers from media around the world.

“They’re already got 30 sitting on the table and are getting new bids every other day particularly from the big American networks.

Kate did her last TV sofa chat with Scottish presenter Lorraine, a former Sun columnist, nearly three years ago.

Her pal said: “Kate likes Lorraine’s softly, softly approach and feels comfortable with her.

“She never asks too many searching questions.”

Maddie’s mum’s last print interview was with The Sun a year ago as the newspaper helped promote a new child rescue alert campaign on behalf of her charity Missing People.

It is believed the McCanns from Rothley, Leics, are being offered many thousands of pounds to relive their torment in a milestone 10th anniversary chat.

After three-year-old Maddie vanished during a family holiday to Portugal in May 2007 Kate and Gerry were in a £1million bidding war by two of America’s biggest chat show stars at the time – Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters.

The McCanns, for an undisclosed fee, finally chose Oprah and in May 2009 told in a heart breaking interview how they felt their snatched daughter was still alive.

The family source said: “Kate and Gerry get weary from all the demands for interviews, especially in the run up to the anniversary.

"The tenth one is a significant one and there is tremendous interest, not just from Britain and America but Australasia and Europe and of course Portugal.

"Talk shows, news channels, glossy magazines, newspapers – everyone’s after them!”

The pal added: “America has always had a fascination with Madeleine. And they’ve had their own high profile stories of missing children with happy endings after after being found alive and well years later.”

Just last month Kate and Gerry were given fresh hope and “buoyed up” when a kidnapped girl Kamiyah Mobley was found alive in the US after an incredible 18-year search.

Maddie, if alive, would turn 14 in mid May just nine days after the anniversary.

The McCanns have been left “bitterly disappointed” after losing on Tuesday an eight-year libel battle against Goncalo Amaral, an ex detective they had tried to silence but who defeated them.

They now face big court costs which they will take from but will eat into the dwindling Find Maddie Fund.

It is made up of public donations and proceeds from Kate’s best-seller book.
The friend added: “Gerry said ‘It’s not good news. We’ve gone to the pinnacle of the Portuguese legal system and we’ve lost. We now have to pay a sizeable amount in costs.’ ”

The McCann’s spokesperson Clarence Mitchell said today: “No firm decision has been made about any 10th anniversary interview.”

He has previously said: “Kate and Gerry would only ever agree to a deal which would widen the search for their daughter.”

That should set the hate squad off; they will spent the weekend hatespamming the Sun and other outlets, then copying their own comments back to their home hate sites, and announcing, as usual, Look what the public are saying, tick tock, the tide is turning!

Sadly for the haters, everyone knows its just the same trolls doing it, all the time.

Oh - now the court case is over, will the McCanns be able to speak more freely about Gonzo the Ghastly? Pcorneater

Oh, I would certainly hope they will be able to open up about how he did nothing to actually advance the search for the poor child. Pcorneater

'UTTER RUBBISH' Kate and Gerry McCann slam claims they are plotting to make hundreds of thousands out of 10th anniversary of Maddie’s disappearance
The couple say they 'want to make it clear they are not making any money out of Madeleine's disappearance'
EXCLUSIVE
BY ELLIE FLYNN AND TRACEY KANDOHLA 16th February 2017, 8:46 am

MADELEINE McCann’s parents have slammed claims they are plotting to make hundreds of thousands out of the 10th anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance.

The couple’s spokesman Clarence Mitchell shut down claims the couple are accepting huge fees for 10th anniversary media interviews.

He told The Sun Online: “They want to make it clear that they are not making any money out of Madeleine’s disappearance. Any claims are spurious nonsense but fits in with the Portuguese agenda.”

Kate and Gerry McCann, both 48, are bracing themselves for the heartbreaking milestone in less than three months and despite being bombarded with offers from across the world they have, so far, turned them all down.

As interest increases daily to clinch the sought-after decade deal by broadcasting and publishing giants, the family have admitted: “It’s crazy!”

Mitchell said: “Kate and Gerry have not decided on any media interviews surrounding the anniversary yet but if any deal is done it will be extremely limited and no payment will be involved.

“Any suggestion they will be paid is completely inaccurate and utter rubbish!”

Portuguese media have suggested former GP Kate and heart doctor Gerry, from Rothley, Leics., are set to receive 100,000 euros (£85,086) from British deals and 400,000 euros (£340,345) from American chats.

The couple are considering two pooled interviews in Britain, one for print through the country’s national agency Press Association and one for broadcasters.

Both are being organised through Scotland Yard, Mitchell explained. He said: “There will be no fee.”

The spokesman added: "The interest on the 10th anniversary has been vast, even crazy! Kate and Gerry have turned down down numerous offers of paid interviews in the past.

"But they have never accepted interview fees. They once accepted hospitality fees many years ago after travelling to America to appear on Oprah Winfrey, for flights and hotels.”

The only time Kate ever received any payment connected to Maddie’s disappearance in May 2007 - £1 million before tax – was from her own book simply entitled “Madeleine” and published in 2011.

She was also given a newspaper serialisation fee, which went straight into the Maddie pot – a Fund set up when the three-year-old first went missing with donations from the generous public and big-hearted celebrities to help pay for investigators to find her and bring her perpetrators to justice.

Madeleine McCann disappeared from a holiday villa in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz in May 2007.

The couple recently hit out at BBC1 drama The Moorside, which told the story of Shannon Matthews' abduction in 2008 - but repeatedly referenced Madeleine's disappearance.

A close friend of the couple said: “They are still doing the best they can while coping with the trauma of their daughter’s disappearance after nearly 10 years.

"Then a supposedly responsible broadcaster makes a programme about a bogus kidnap and brings Madeleine McCann into it. Kate and Gerry are naturally hurt and very perplexed."

Oh, so this latest bullsh*t came from 'Portuguese media', did it? Not Team Gonzo's favourite comic, CartofMuck, perchance?

The hate squad will lap up any old garbage, as long as they can convince themselves that it hurts Madeleine's family - including her siblings, who, as they daily demonstrate, they hate just as much as they do anyone else with the surname 'McCann'.

Both are being organised through Scotland Yard

The hounders are making up lunatic conspiracy theories as to why the Yard is organising these, Lily.

They are under the delusion that the Yard is going to announce the arrest of the McCanns, live, on camera - amongst other lunatic conspiracy theories.

It seems to have escaped their notice that Madeleine's abduction is an ongoing investigation in the UK, and that there may well be a fresh police appeal for information.

Useful information that is, not more of the haters' lunatic conspiracy theories.
