It couldn't be clearer, so why lie about it? And don't tell me Montclair and Guedes don't know, they're as thick as thieves with Morais.

Are they now calling Morais a liar by default?

I have no idea what they're playing at, Lily, besides twisting and turning in the wind. Why do they find telling the truth about events which are a matter of record so difficult?

They are all pathological liars? Birds of a feather etc?

'Court reporters' are supposed to be unbiased. They are NOT supposed to twitter rude remarks about counsel they don't like, or spread misinformation all over the internet.

Yet there she is, b*tching about the McCanns' legal representative in Portugal, with the very person who translated the 'book' as soon as it came off the presses and put it on the internet.

Yes, it does seem that the most relevant bits were available either from Joana Morais from Lisbon (Amaral's current stomping ground) on forums or from Claudia Rodrigues de Matos (from Viseu, Amaral's original stomping ground) on the Proud of the PJ blog well within the time frame. And this might well be an example of why the reports from Guedes don't amount to a real report or transcript. How can we be absolutely certain that the court was told that a full translation was given to Kate or whether there was a phrase used such as, "Kate read the English translations from the book that were on the Internet in August 2008?"

I have to agree with those who say that reading the Guedes so-called reports are not really giving any kind of full picture of the trial. Even if she were not biased, she seems to forget that a proper reporter gives detail other than just the content of the statements because that is vital. Things like who sat with who, what they wore, how the people reacted etc. Her reports are just a bad transcript and we know they are bad for three reasons. She tells us that its a hotchpotch of notes and fading memory and not from proper shorthand or stenotype notes, and she is clearly very heavily biased. Nobody, even if they are trying to do so and are fluent (which she is definitely not) in both languages being used, can overcome those problems and produce a real, fair and accurate transcript. To place reliance on such badly conceieved (and later edited) reports as a record of events is beyond foolish.

One crucial thing that people seem to be forgetting too, is that the idea of translation is only relevant to parts of this case (as in the way it affected Kate's ability to read the book, for example). Surely this case is primarily a Portuguese case and is related to the clear damage done to the search in Portugal by the book as well as its subsequent long term effect on the family. Portugal was the vital country for the search and that was the area of greatest damage.

Note how Amaral's literary masterpiece was being advertised as having HOT REVELATIONS.

The damage it did in Portugal is incalculable, IMO.

Up to the injunction, there were proceedings (imo) to have the book published in the UK.

Same way I did - it takes about five seconds. This is ridiculous, frankly, it's their own close associates in Team Gonc who put translations on the internet in 2008.

Wrong, as has been demonstrated amply here. Everything bar Gonc's views on the Algarve weather was online, in English, at the end of July 2008.

Nigel Redsquare Roberts has stuffed up very badly over this - as have one or two others. Why didn't they check with Morais - after all, she's the one who was translating the HOT REVELATIONS.

Oh yes it was - why not ask Morais, as she did it? Or Claws, as her blog carried it? On the other hand - carry on as you all are, making total tw@ts of yourselves.  

Incidentally, Nigel Redsquare Roberts should have checked the McCannfiles before he came out with that nonsense. There's an English translation of the book on that site dated 2008. *27 July 2008*
