Oh what a cute photograph of Madeleine. Truly adorable!

That pull out will keep the sad sacks going in their hate party.

I've just quickly skimmed it, it's not too bad, actually. Nothing we didn't know, but a lot of it will be news to millions of readers who haven't had it spelled out before just how incompetent Gonzo was.

Can you get a hold of a copy from one of the newspaper shops that sell UK papers, Pedro?

That's a pity, it isn't bad. Oh, and in the Sun proper, Lorraine Kelly's annoyed the haters again by referring to them as nutters and fruitloops.

Why should they be annoyed? Most people refer to them in worse terms.

A truly stunningly stupid remark, isn't it? I should think whoever did it wished the ground could open up and swallow him/her after his/her bosses had finished.

But that's what happens when smart-ar@es set typing fingers in motion before engaging brain.

Yes, it is, Tony, very much so. Which is why whoever had the twitter password when that appeared will have had the Mother Of All Tongue-lashings, if not actually sacked for gross misconduct if it was some idiot junior.

Sun apologises over 'inappropriate' Madeleine McCann X Factor joke
Paper's editor writes to parents of missing girl after tweet from its official Twitter account about contestant Tamera Foster

The Sun has apologised to Kate and Gerry McCann over a tweet by one of its official Twitter accounts that made a joke referring to the disappearance of the couple's daughter, Madeleine.

During Saturday night's The X Factor live show the Sun Showbiz Twitter account tweeted about hotly-tipped contestant Tamera Foster, relating to press coverage that she was recently caught shoplifting.

"Forget make up, the only way Tamera's gonna lose this is if she admits to stealing Maddie," the tabloid tweeted via @TheSun_Showbiz to almost 30,000 followers.

The tweet immediately provoked a furious backlash that resulted in the publisher deleting the message and eventually issuing an apology.

"We would like to say sorry for a tweet that was sent out earlier," the publisher tweeted via @TheSun_Showbiz at 10.18pm, almost 15 minutes after the X Factor had finished. "It was an inappropriate attempt to make a joke, and we got it wrong."

Sun editor David Dinsmore followed up the Twitter apology with a letter to Kate and Gerry McCann expressing his "sincerest apologies" for the incident.

The letter has been sent to the McCanns' longtime spokesman, Clarence Mitchell.

It is understood that a freelance journalist was responsible for the tweet, and that some form of disciplinary action has been taken.

The incident coincided with Sun's publication of a heavily promoted 12-page pullout in Saturday's edition called "The Maddie Files".

---------

I should think the 'disciplinary action' was a very swift tearing-up of any contract the freelance idiot may have had with the Sun. And they will no doubt be more careful who they let handle their twitterings in future.
