Supreme rejects appeal of Afonso Dias on the kidnapping of Rui Pedro

The Supreme Court rejected the appeal by examining Afonso Dias , who was convicted by the Oporto , three and a half years in jail after the Court of Lousada having acquitted of the kidnapping of Rui Pedro .

The Supreme rejected the appeal on the fact that Afonso Dias have been sentenced to a prison sentence of less than five years , cases that are no longer appreciated by that court.

OK, I personally think this guy was involved in Rui Pedro's abduction, but the case has been such a shambles it's impossible to be sure.

1. The original trial collapsed when the judge threw it out of court for the bizarre reason that the accused's eyes were the wrong colour.

2. He was then freed. He was then re-tried in absentia, and sentenced to three years. Which is a ridiculously light sentence for child abduction, assuming he was guilty.

4. He can't appeal because his sentence was less than five years?

FFS, what a way to run a legal system! Is there ANY child abduction case in Portugal that hasn't turned into a shambles?

Over the past 10-15 years, there have been several high-profile child abductions/disappearances in Portugal, and NOT ONE has been dealt with in anything resembling a competent, convincing, legal fashion.


It's a matter of record that the PJ messed up the Rui Pedro case, too, and tried to smear his poor parents.

No wonder people wonder just what the Hell is really going on!
