Sunday Times apologises to Kate and Gerry McCann over efits false allegation

Post  bb1 on Sun Dec 29, 2013 12:37 pm

Kate and Gerry McCann and Madeleine's Fund The Sunday Times

Published: 28 December 2013

In articles dated October 23 ("Madeleine clues hidden for 5 years" and "Investigators had E-Fits five years ago", News) we referred to efits which were included in a report prepared by private investigators for the McCanns and the Fund in 2008. We accept that the articles may have been understood to suggest that the McCanns had withheld information from the authorities. This was not the case. We now understand and accept that the efits had been provided to the Portuguese and Leicestershire police by October 2009. We also understand that a copy of the final report including the efits was passed to the Metropolitan police in August 2011, shortly after it commenced its review. We apologise for the distress caused."

Looks like Gonzo really is up sh*t creek, after all that hot air and big talk.

This is us doing the Told You So, dance.  yaydance yaydance yaydance

The McCann-haters needn't bother trying to pretend this isn't happening:

http://davidbretisagod.forumotion.co.uk/t452-read-this-and-weep-you-benighted-haters

http://stopthemyths.prophpbb.com/post208500.html#p208500

The McCann-haters were wrong YET AGAIN, as they were told from the first day that smear piece appeared. All their feverish speculation that followed from it was WRONG, pointless, because the original story wasn't true.

So what does that say about them, beyond they are as gullible and stupid as they are nasty? Which the rest of the world knows, anyway...

I do hope the ST made a suitable donation to the Find Madeleine Fund to compensate for the distress and trouble they have caused?

Also, if the Gonzo fan club had done the most basic checking on the two journos who concocted that smear piece, they would have discovered that they had already cost the ST a lot of money for inventing smears and falsehoods.

Everyone here:

http://jatyk2.forumotion.co.uk/t3885-times-clues-hidden-for-five-years-according-to-convicted-conman

and Myths, etc knew the story was bogus, Pedro, and said so.

The McCann-haters will find their stupid, wrong-as-usual, tick-tocking recorded in that six page thread. Six pages was all it took for us to demolish it.

Bennett's lot, on the other hand, had no fewer than 140+ pages of ridiculous, pointless, tick-tocking over a story that would have been shown up to be false with minimal checking.

The whole episode demonstrates how eager the haters are to swallow down any old rubbish from convicted conmen and perjurers, as long as they can tell themselves it hurts Madeleine McCann and her family.

Nice to meet you. Your expertise will be very welcome, I'm sure

Contrary to what many posters believe, there are plenty of people in the news media who are interested in this case, but they have to treat it in the same professional manner as all other stories, ie only report facts and don't guess or speculate
I've been looking in on this forum for a few years, from both a personal and professional perspective, but it's impossible to develop the latter because there are so few facts

There is no conspiracy to cover anything up, and no conspiracy to report in a biased way
But if there are no facts, there is no story
News editors will tell you that when it comes down to it, the only fact is that a girl is missing

Newsrooms don't have the same freedom to comment like internet forums
Have a look back at the original ST story thread:
Sunday Times link
How many of you would like to re-write your posts now? Broadcast journalists can't do that

The ST story looked interesting, but nobody could make it stand up, and it turns out that it is flawed
If any duty newsroom editor had given air time to it, even just reporting that the ST was saying it at the time, they would have been in big trouble
Not because the Maddie story is being massaged by the broadcast media, but because this development couldn't be proved (just like everything else)

Have you noticed what the haters are trying to ignore, in their hilarious efforts to find Secret Messages in the ST apology?

We now understand and accept that the efits had been provided to the Portuguese and Leicestershire police by October 2009

Unfortunately, there wasn't much the UK police could do at that point in time, as all responsibility was with the PJ, in particular, the PJ officer who's been left to handle the case.

Which would be one Ricardo (wanna see my truncheon) Paiva.

What did Paiva do with the information? Oh wait, I know. Throw it in the bin and get back to making friends in chatrooms.

It has to be so frustrating for the McCanns to know that this is what was happening. It's not as though a young child's life is important, is it?

IMO, Gonzo knew all along that this report was bogus, but was prepared to use it to try to distress the McCanns and give his groupies false hope.

That report by Gerald Couzens bears careful reading, quote:

Mr Amaral’s lawyer said last night he was considering raising the issue in the couple’s ongoing libel trial against the former police.

The McCanns are seeking one million pounds in damages over the ex-detective’s claims in his July 2008 book The Truth of the Lie that they faked their daughter’s abduction to cover up her death in their holiday flat.

Vitor Santos de Oliveira, who is representing Mr Amaral, said: ‘We are aware of the revelations concerning this report by the McCanns’ former investigators and believe they are very important.

‘It is possible I may try to submit it as evidence to defend my client but I haven’t decided yet.

‘Nothing’s been ruled out. We are analysing the relevance of the report and considering our position. We have no intention of introducing irrelevant material into this case because we respect the McCanns as people and have no intention of harming them for sake of it,’ he said.

Respect the McCanns as people? Come off it - his oafish client has never 'respected' anyone besides the barmaid pouring him his next drink.

Gonzo knew all along the report was bullsh*t, otherwise he would have been desperate to get it entered into evidence.

Wouldn't be at all surprising if Team Gonc turned out to be the original Source of the smear, seeing as how the PJ's copy of the report went to dream-interpreter and truncheon-waver Paiva.

Kate McCann must have been psychic when she dubbed him the F****** T*****.

A reminder, from the Sun:

Maddie cop ‘sent sex pics’ to Brit woman

Accused ... Ricardo Paiva allegedly sent dirty photos to a British woman

EXCLUSIVE
By ALEX WEST
Published: 15 minutes ago

A COP who comforted Madeleine McCann's parents is being probed for allegedly sending filthy photos to a woman.

Portuguese detective Ricardo Paiva is accused of posting them over the internet to a 20-year-old Brit.

Married dad Paiva, in his 40s, is said to have responded after she contacted him about Madeleine's disappearance.

t is claimed he begged the woman — a blonde model — to send him a photo and allegedly replied with an obscene image of himself. Paiva denies it was him and claims that someone hacked into his Facebook account.

Last night his Polícia Judiciária force confirmed it was investigating and had seized his computer. A source said: "They are checking the possibility Paiva's Facebook page has been hacked."

Inspector Paiva is also alleged to have leaked details of the bungled first police probe into Madeleine's disappearance to the model.

Madeleine was nearly four when she was kidnapped from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz on the Algarve in May 2007.

Family liaison officer Paiva was the cop closest to her devastated parents Kate and Gerry in the following days.

But he later clashed with the couple, both doctors of Rothley, Leics, who were made suspects. In her book "Madeleine", Kate told how Paiva went from being a trusted confidante to her main accuser.

------------

Hacked my ar@e.  rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl

Funny how he got kicked off mainland Portugal and sent to one of the islands, isn't it? He should have stuck to dream interpreting and stayed away from blondes in chatrooms.

Logically, it must be, Sabot. It was handed to the PJ when he was supposedly dealing with new information, and never saw the light of day.

It's no use the Gonzo Fan Club attempting to blame Leicestershire police for this; as they are usually only too keen to point out, Portugal has primacy.

It was, therefore, up to the PJ in the form of Paiva to decide what to do with the report. Nothing was done.

Just as Amoral didn't bother to check the creche records.
