SEF investigates child trafficking in Angola

ANA CRISTINA PEREIRA 05/10/2014 - 20:44

Man was arrested Thursday evening at Porto airport with three children aged 4, 12 and 13 years.

A man, 53, was Thursday evening held at Porto Airport on suspicion of trafficking children - four, 12 and 13 years. Was then passed by their father.

For months, the Aliens and Borders Service (SEF) is closer to Angolan children landing in Portugal. Fears that the country is being used by a network of trafficking in Angola and the Republic of Congo to Europe.

This time, the suspicion arose in the control of passengers on flights TAAG - Linhas Aereas de Angola from Luanda. Inspectors collected evidence that children traveling with documents "and others falsified" and that the man, after all, not be familiar. On Friday, the Court of Maia decided to declare it a measure of probation. However, children were sent to different homes for children and youth.

The warning came from Lisbon. On January 25, the SEF was faced with a case. Landed a man, 40 years old with a 10 year old boy and a pair of adolescents aged 15. Said the father or uncle of them, depending. They followed with the route Libreville-Casablanca-Lisbon. Paris would like fate.

Has repeatedly man would have landed in Portugal in the company of children. On interrogation, confirmed that it was charging thousands of dollars from the displacement of each. Claimed to have been paid by families to accompany them to their final destination. Would study in France.

The judge on duty at the Court of Lisbon has chosen to apply a measure of coercion term of identity and residence and a deposit of four thousand euros.Days later, the decision was revised and the man taken to jail. It appeared that another man, coming from France, to claim the paternity of the children. The police stopped the second man on suspicion of using false documents. The court eventually release him. Smaller, these were sent to institutions.

The cases follow one another. Already on 17 March in Lisbon, a man was intercepted with two children aged 10 years. Also this being bailed his father, only that there were two of them in the luggage birth certificates. There will be other children in this situation. Some were detected at a later stage of the process of trafficking in Amadora.

Thanks, Max, I understand a lot of Angolan money is currently flowing into Portugal and helping keep it afloat. Not much of it gained honestly.
