Frank Zimmerman accused of using email and Twitter to harass Tory MP who writes novels under name Louise Bagshawe

A 60-year-old man has been charged with conducting an online campaign of threats against Conservative MP Louise Mensch.

Frank Zimmerman, of Barnwood, Gloucester, is accused of targeting the politician via Twitter and email.

He will appear on bail at Gloucester magistrates court on 12 December charged with making malicious communications, Scotland Yard said.

Zimmerman was arrested on 25 August by the Metropolitan police's e-crime unit after Mensch alleged her children had been threatened by email.

Mensch, who writes novels under her maiden name, Bagshawe, has three children and was elected MP for Corby last year.

She posted a message on Twitter that said she had passed the messages to police.

Mensch said: "I don't bully easily, kids. Or in fact at all."
