Aye, lassie. I have been to this Burns Night shindig in B'Pest about 5 years ago, it was great fun. Lots of Scots ex-pats in Hungary. LLSabot wrote:

Love the Tartan. And the last Burns Night I attended was in Plymouth.
Will you be drinking a toast to The King Across The Water? I do that. Very pretentious of me.

I have taken a few coins from my piggy bank and purchased a rather fine haggis and swede for tomorrow, which should turn out something like this.

Re: BURNS NIGHT IN BUDAPEST!!
A Man's a Man for A' That
Is there for honest Poverty
That hings his head, an' a' that;
The coward slave-we pass him by,
We dare be poor for a' that!
For a' that, an' a' that.
Our toils obscure an' a' that,
The rank is but the guinea's stamp,
The Man's the gowd for a' that.
What though on hamely fare we dine,
Wear hoddin grey, an' a that;
Gie fools their silks, and knaves their wine;
A Man's a Man for a' that:
For a' that, and a' that,
Their tinsel show, an' a' that;
The honest man, tho' e'er sae poor,
Is king o' men for a' that.
Ye see yon birkie, ca'd a lord,
Wha struts, an' stares, an' a' that;
Tho' hundreds worship at his word,
He's but a coof for a' that:
For a' that, an' a' that,
His ribband, star, an' a' that:
The man o' independent mind
He looks an' laughs at a' that.
A prince can mak a belted knight,
A marquis, duke, an' a' that;
But an honest man's abon his might,
Gude faith, he maunna fa' that!
For a' that, an' a' that,
Their dignities an' a' that;
The pith o' sense, an' pride o' worth,
Are higher rank than a' that.
Then let us pray that come it may,
(As come it will for a' that,)
That Sense and Worth, o'er a' the earth,
Shall bear the gree, an' a' that.
For a' that, an' a' that,
It's coming yet for a' that,
That Man to Man, the world o'er,
Shall brothers be for a' that.

Oh, I'm not having anything formal, Lily- I confess, I am one of the cheats who cooks the Chieftan o' the Puddin' Race in the microwave.....
Honest, if you prick it like a baked potato, and cook it in one of those steamer bags, it comes out perfectly without any drama...
Rabbie will be birlin' in his grave

I bet they have. How would you like to be stuffed in a bag and cooked if you were a Haggis?

Well, this one enjoyed his big day...
He was part of the Ceilidh Flashmob at Parliament Square, Edinburgh...

Tourists and passers-by on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile were treated to an impromptu ceilidh as around 50 dancers took to the streets in celebration of Scotland’s national bard.
Accompanied by drums and acclaimed accordionist Norman Mackay, the dancers filled Parliament Square in front of St Giles Cathedral.
Joining in the merriment were three dancing haggis, who twirled and jigged with the amused dancers.
And the Irn Bru taxi was a perfect touch
