Vile Gary Speed internet rumours nailed
Brother-in-law hits back
EXCLUSIVE

A RELATIVE of Gary Speed yesterday condemned Twitter users who spread vile slurs about the soccer legend after he was found hanged.
Anthony Haylock — who is married to Speed's sister Lesley — used the website itself to hit back just hours after the inquest into the Wales manager's death.
He said: "So, Gary Speed wasn't gay, wasn't having an affair, and wasn't facing tabloid exposure. Nice work, Twitter."
The angry brother-in-law signed off with a swipe at sickos who fuelled the unfounded gossip — declaring in internet-speak: "#RumourFail."
His blast came after a coroner ruled dad-of-two Speed, 42, may not have meant to kill himself when he was found hanged in his garage. Horrified wife Louise, 41, who discovered his body, told the hearing in Warrington, Cheshire, how they had a minor row the night before.
She took a drive to clear her mind — and later fell asleep in the car. Unable to get back into their £3million home near Chester, she discovered her husband hanged by a TV aerial cable in the garage.
Yesterday her sister-in-law's husband told of his own grief for a man he described as "just a lovely normal guy". Anthony said in a separate Twitter post how the ex-Leeds, Everton and Newcastle hero would "give you the shirt off his back" — joking it was "normally a football one''.
He said: "Miss him badly. Known him since he was 19 — just a lad. Made me feel welcome from the off and part of the Speed family. Plus he didn't like any of Lesley's ex B/F which made it even better." The inquest heard Speed's marriage was "up and down" — and four days before his death he mentioned the idea of suicide in a text to his wife Louise.
But she insisted it was not serious and he also talked about "moving forward" — as well as his love for her and their teen boys.
His death in November rocked soccer. Ghouls who spread the twisted rumours about him knew millions were reading their lies. In contrast Speed's family heaped praise on the mainstream media for its "sympathetic" handling of the tragedy.
In an editorial, The Times told how the internet had been "lit up with unsubstantiated rumours" — and warned of a society where "misinformation triumphs over truth".
Tory MP Philip Davies also hit out at papers being cowed by Lord Justice Leveson's inquiry into press standards. He warned it was "leaving a large field clear to the unregulated internet and social media so people can peddle lots of things that are not true"
------------
I hope his family didn't see the filth that Bennett and others were posting about the man.
