Salema. When we were in PdL on our "investagative" visit in 2010, we had one trip out as holiday and that was to Salema for lunch. Just a mile further West than Pat Browns infamous Fort de Almadena, it is a really nice little place. Nothing fancy, but it feels like the old Portugal. Bet that will go now, after the publicity. It was already beginning to "smarten up"

We well remembered on a previous visit, sitting at a fish restaurant overlooking that beach and watching the local fishermen unloading their catch and messing about with their boats. Really interesting in a gentle way.

The thing we really loved though was two local dogs playing with an absolutely huge bone. The bigger dog was trying to bury it without the other seeing it. Sand everywhere! The smaller dog, wandering a short distance away, was pretending not to notice.

The minute the bigger dog had accomplished his task and trotted off, head in the air ... well you have guessed it! Sand in the air! Little dog proudly carrying off this huge bone. Too heavy, he didn't get far.

The bigger dog came back to check, just in time to see the other dog burying it. It was so funny; no agression. More sand in the air! Then they played with it.

Lovely scene; I shall never forget it.
