Shooter Charged With Florida Teen's Murder

A man who shot dead a black teenager in a case that has caused outrage in the US has been charged with second-degree murder.

Florida state prosecutor Angela Corey said George Zimmerman, 28, has been charged over 17-year-old Trayvon Martin's murder.
She said Zimmerman is in police custody after he handed himself in.
Zimmerman, a neighbourhood watch volunteer, admitted shooting the teenager in a gated community in Florida's city of Sanford on February 26.
He told police he shot him because he looked "suspicious".

Lawyers for Trayvon's family say the unarmed teenager may have been the victim of racial profiling, and was killed in cold blood.
They claim Trayvon was walking to a convenience store to buy sweets. He was only found to have been carrying a bag of Skittles.
Zimmerman, who is Hispanic, said he acted in self-defence and has so far not been charged with any crime.
His supporters allege that the teenager attacked first, breaking Zimmerman's nose before knocking him to the ground.
Soon after the shooting, Zimmerman went into hiding.
The killing has sparked national uproar in the US amid suspicions it was racially motivated.
