No one care about what he has on the likes of Amaral, but spying on prominent people will be the end of him. This isn't just an attempt to rule by fear, it's a take over bid for power in Portugal, and The Government won't like that at all.

I suspect the government will grab the chance to bring him down with both hands - and they aren't going to care if the likes of Gonc go down with Cristovao. It will be a side benefit, in fact.

From the online comments, the people of Portugal have had a gutful of this lot, and who can blame them?

The country has dreadful problems, and ordinary people are suffering - while Cristovao and co swagger around like Mafia dons? No wonder people are angry.

Actually, Bonny, it is almost impossible to put into words the implications of what this man Cristovao has been up to. This is unbelievable in a so called Democracy in the twenty first century. People like Cristovao have been running Portugal as their own personal Fiefdom for their own gain. Nothing to do with exposing corrupt people, only so they can rule with fear.
This is so much worse than The Salazar Era when at least people knew what they were up against.
I am having serious trouble getting my head around it all.

It is looking like we were closer to the mark than we knew when we likened Gonc and the Team to Al Capone and gangsterism, Sabot.

This is twenty first century, democratic Europe. It's mind boggling that a bunch of PJ Thugs can get away with this for so long.
Michael Cook was convicted in the early nineties, some twenty years ago, and at least twenty years after The Revolution, and only now is this terrible situation coming to light, despite the fact that there have been serious concerns for most of the last twenty years.

I would put money on Cristovao being one of them, Tony. Funny how no-one local went, isn't it?

And, I am certain he was at Amaral's fiftieth Birthday bash when Marcos and his friends were attacked.

I still wonder if there is a Mr Big or a criminal organisation raking off the lucre from all this. I just dont think that Cristovao would have the connections and business acumen to do what he has in just 5 years. and in a failing economy.

He didn't need to start from scratch five years back...allegedly and IMO, of course.

Yes, Critovao was already involved with Gangsters quite a long time ago. And it is obvious now that he has utter contempt for Law and Order, so he was probably treating with them from the beginning. Who knows what they paid him for that?
And then there were the proceeds from his books which could have been a ploy to produce legitimate income.
In my opinion, Amaral got his ideas of grandeur from Cristovao and was fast heading down the same path.
Amaral was in charge of Drug Dealing, and I don't suppose for a minute that all of the drug hauls were handed over, or all of the Dealers prosecuted.

What a very nice little set up they had.

It would appear the club's bankers do not want the ex cop back.

They are all insane. It doesn't matter whether he is guilty or not, a serious complaint has been made in which Cristovao appears to be implicated.
Is this the mind set that failed to suspend Goncalo Amaral and the rest of those implicated in Leonor Cipriano's Torture?

I am beginning to wonder when they are going to accuse The Referee of Bribing himself.
