Spain police investigate Madeleine McCann 'sighting'

Spanish police are investigating a reported sighting of Madeleine McCann in a Costa del Sol resort.

Specialist officers are following up a tip-off received about 10 days ago that a girl resembling the missing British child was spotted in Nerja, 30 miles east of Malaga, sources said.

The possible sighting is being handled by the specialised and violent crime unit (unidad de delincuencia especializada y violenta, or UDEV) of Spain's judicial police, the Malaga-based Sur newspaper reported.

It is understood that Scotland Yard detectives reviewing the case are liaising with their Spanish counterparts about the latest lead.

Madeleine was nearly four when she went missing from her family's holiday flat in Praia da Luz in the Algarve on May 3 2007 as her parents Kate and Gerry McCann dined with friends nearby.

There have been hundreds of possible sightings of her all over the world since she vanished, but so far they have all come to nothing.

Her parents are preparing to mark the fifth anniversary of her disappearance next month.

McCann family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: "Kate and Gerry are aware of this particular report from Spain. It was absolutely right that the police investigate any potential lead.

"Kate and Gerry remain very grateful for the co-operation of the police in the search for Madeleine."


Anti's in denial....of course there was a sighting in Spain - Nerja.

I was just a bit annoyed yesterday when I saw people who really should have known better falling for the Morais spin that 'the PJ' had denied there was a sighting, Rose.

To the best of my knowledge, this site carried the Renascença story first in English, and it was obvious that there was something not kosher about it. It gave off a distinct eau du Levy.

I thought people had learned their lesson over planted stories like that, but clearly not.

It should be obvious by now that something has been reported. Whether or not it actually is Madeleine is irrelevant in the light of denials. The PJ are hardly likely to tell anyone, are they. But all it would take for The Forkers to twist this would be a No Comment from The PJ.
The important thing is that people are still looking. This is what is really getting up their noses.

However, A Big Boy What Is A Sauce In The PJ popped up right on cue to deny it - naturally, the Big Boy had no name, rank, location, nothing, but it gave Morais an excuse to pump out more propaganda.

What a coincidence! Whoever would have seen that coming?

IMO, there has been an incident, for want of a better word, in Spain, which the police have been quietly dealing with.

Just as happened in Leh.

Enter the Team Gonc Sauce Factory with A Big Boy to deny it, not unlike The Indian Policeman in Leh.

It is also not unlike 'The judge' in 'The court' who supposedly ordered the Evil McCanns to return The Precious to Gonc.

None of the forkers stopped to ask, What judge? What court? Why has no judgement been produced for us all to see?

I wonder when it is going to dawn on the forkers that they have been lied to, all the way along the line?

A far better idea would be to find out who in Team Gonc pretended to be an 'official PJ source' and fed Renascença a totally bogus, fake 'denial'.

Never mind, I have no doubt the REAL PJ will be looking into it, as the whole of Team Gonc are now under legal scrutiny in Portugal.

Spanish police are investigating a reported sighting of Madeleine McCann in a Costa del Sol resort.

Specialist officers are following up a tip-off received about 11 days ago that a girl resembling the missing child was spotted in Nerja, 30 miles east of Malaga.

Madeleine, from Rothley, was nearly four when she went missing from her family's holiday flat in Praia da Luz, Algarve, Portugal, in May 2007.

Family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said parents Kate and Gerry McCann were "very grateful" the police had acted on the tip-off.

He said: "Kate and Gerry are aware of this particular report from Spain.

"It is absolutely right that the police investigate any potential lead.

"Kate and Gerry remain very grateful for the co-operation of the police in the search for Madeleine."

According to The Sun newspaper, the pair have no plans to travel to Spain until investigators have examined the information further. The possible sighting is being handled by the specialised and violent crime unit of Spain's judicial police, the Sur newspaper, in Malaga, reported.

It is understood Scotland Yard detectives reviewing the case are liaising with their Spanish counterparts about the latest sighting.

The development is thought to be connected to a new review of Madeleine's disappearance.

In March, a new team of detectives from Porto, northern Portugal, was brought in to re-examine the case.

The team has been instructed to go over the thousands of pages of case files.

According to the Telegraph, the McCanns' Portuguese lawyer Rogerio Alves has described the Portuguese police case review as a "very positive sign".

According to the paper, he said: "Obviously, the most plausible explanation for what's happening is that information passed to or acquired by the Judicial Police in Porto has put them on the trail of something specific."

According to the Daily Star, the tip-off was received via an e-mail sent to Portuguese police.

The paper also reported that Nerja town hall spokesman Antonio Gallardo said: "We haven't been informed by anyone officially about this sighting.

"However, we urge anyone with any relevant information about Madeleine to assist in the search for her by contacting authorities."

Seriously, why do they do it? Why do they say things like that, when it is so easily disproved?

And why has it not sunk in yet that there was a 'sighting' in Spain, and the only hoax was the fake 'official PJ source' who planted a load of nonsense in Renascença?

I see only three possible reasons for such "lies" from them.

1 They are trying to wind people up with blatant silly lies at the expense of a missing child.

2 They are so hate filled that they think lies will encourage others to believe in the conspiracy they hold so dear.

3 They are so incompetent that they cannot operate a computer at a reasonable level.

Any others see any other possibilities?

Personally, I think it's No. 2. They keep telling each other these ridiculous lies to reinforce their own warped idea of reality and the truth.

They never, ever question planted stories from A source in the PJ; they can't - or won't - make the slightest effort to find out whether this nonsense they are spoonfed is actually the truth.

A BRITISH holidaymaker has claimed he saw Madeleine McCann in the Spanish resort where police are searching for her.

Student Billy Sousa, 18, was having lunch with three pals in a bar overlooking a beach in Nerja on the Costa del Sol when a girl he believes could be the missing youngster walked past.

One of his friends shouted: “Oh God, she’s the spitting image of Madeleine McCann.”

The girl, who had dark blonde hair, pale skin and looked “seven or eight”, was with a 6ft, stocky, Middle Eastern man in his 40s with dark hair and stubble.

Billy said when the man saw they had spotted him he tugged on her hand and pulled her away.

But the pals did not report the sighting because the pair vanished before they could get a photo and they thought they would be laughed at.

This week Billy discovered police were searching the resort and passed his information to officers.

He said: “I just wish we’d done something about it there and then.

“There was just something so odd about this pale-skinned, English-looking girl walking along the beach front with a man who was of an entirely different race and appearance.

“The girl was looking around as though she was lost or didn’t know what was happening.

“I got a really good look at her face. She looked just like Madeleine. She was older obviously, but the features were identical.’’

Madeleine disappeared from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on May 3, 2007, days before her fourth birthday.

Billy, from Portsmouth, was having lunch outside the Olas bar on or around July 18.

He added: “I couldn’t take my eyes off her. She looked like all the pictures I’ve seen of her. The man she was with looked like he was fairly poor, not a drifter but not a rich man.

“One of my friends thought he saw a woman with them but I didn’t. I was too focused on the girl.”

Spanish police swooped on the resort this week after a tip-off from colleagues in Portugal.

Madeleine’s doctor parents Kate, 44, and Gerry, 43, are monitoring the investigation. Their spokesman Clarence Mitchell said the couple were grateful for any help in the search.

Someone pretended to be A Big Boy In The PJ and planted a fake 'denial' in Renascença; by an odd coincidence, this fake 'denial' then gave Ms Morais an excuse to rant and rave about 'spin' - when all the time, it was coming from her allies.

Team Gonc has pulled stunts like this before, but they must be getting sloppy; the breadcrumbs were pretty easy to follow.

The question is - why are Morais and co so desperate to deny the truth - that Madeleine McCann may well be alive, and could be anywhere in the world? Including Spain?

Why were they so desperate to pretend that the PJ hadn't been in touch with the Spanish police? Please note - I am NOT saying the child was Madeleine McCann, any more than I said the child in India was.

What really fascinates me is the length these people go to, to deny that decent folk actually do occasionally think they have seen Madeleine?

What is in it for them that they have to insist that a child is dead? Because it's pretty sick of them, frankly.

It makes absolutely no impression on me.

I have a relatively good understanding of The Law, and there is nothing with which The McCanns can be charged. They never deliberately put any of their children at risk, and so they cannot be charged for such. This is what The Portuguese Attorney General said.
The McCanns were not culpable in the loss of their daughter. This is the end of that one.
The Forkers can holler until the cows come home, but it ain't ever going to change.
