Missing boy (6) found after 33 years?
NEW YORK - Will there be after 33 years still missing an end to the protracted case involving the American boy Etan Patz. The 6-year-old little boy left in 1979 from his home in New York for his school bus stop to walk several hundred meters away. He disappeared and was never found. The FBI has reopened the case and searches since Thursday an apartment a half block from where the boy was last seen.
Police search the apartment where Patz is possibly buried.
The disappearance of Etan, whose parents took him that day for the first time only to let the bus run, made at the time for a media hype. Lived across America along with the shocking case and the police put everything back to the blond, angelic little boy to find. So his picture appeared on the back of milk cartons, a detection method which then would be used many times in missing things, but at that time was completely new.
In the apartment that is searched, then was a handyman at work that Ethan knew. The man was the boy a dollar have offered to help him when pouring a concrete floor. The police search the house for traces of blood, clothing or human remains. It will also remove the concrete floor.

New search for first missing child pictured on milk carton

[Updated at 2:37 p.m. ET] Investigators began jackhammering into the basement of a commercial building in Lower Manhattan on Thursday as part of a search for a 6-year-old boy who disappeared in May 1979 on his way to a bus stop in New York City.
"We're looking for human remains, clothing or other personal effects," New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne said. "It's a very painstaking process."
Etan Patz's disappearance, considered a high-profile cold case, prompted authorities to splash the child's image on the sides of milk cartons in hopes of gathering more information. It is thought to be the first time that step was taken for a missing child.
"The FBI's Evidence Recovery Team is on the scene," FBI special agent Peter Donald said.
The excavation includes boring into the basement floors and walls of a SoHo building on Prince Street in Manhattan, near where the schoolboy is believed to have walked on his way to a bus stop more than three decades ago.
Dozens of police and federal agents have gathered outside the building and are expected to continue their search for the next five days.
Authorities have reason to think the new search could lead to the discovery of the boy's remains at that location, though remain wary after past leads in the case have not panned out, according to two sources.

Feds continue search for Etan Patz
Police and federal agents were expected Friday to continue searching in a Lower Manhattan basement for clues in the more than 30-year disappearance of six-year-old Etan Patz, the boy who became the face of missing children in America.
Etan Patz disappeared May 25, 1979, a block from his home in the city's SoHo neighborhood. It was the first time he walked to the bus stop by himself.
Authorities said both new and old information led them to a carpenter and part-time handyman who met Etan the day before he disappeared and gave the boy a dollar.
It was interest in the carpenter that prompted authorities to bring a cadaver dog to a SoHo basement, where Etan apparently encountered the 42-year-old carpenter, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation. The dogs picked up the scent of human remains, the source said.

Cops Test Stain In 33-Year Hunt For Missing Boy
http://news.sky.com/home/world-news/article/16213973
The sum has not been paid.
Police are testing a stain found on the wall of a basement as they search for clues in the hunt for a boy who went missing more than 30 years ago.
Etan Patz was one of the first missing children in the US to have his photograph printed on milk cartons and helped fuel a national campaign in search of "lost" children in the 1980s.
"The search in the Patz location has concluded and there was nothing conclusive found," said one officer - who wished to remain anonymous.
"A stain on the wall is being tested but it's inconclusive what that's about. The digging has been done. There were no bones or obvious human remains found."
The stain, described as a spot on a wall, was found on Saturday, the third day of excavations by the New York Police Department and the FBI.
They have been looking at a basement that was used by a handyman as a workshop at the time of Etan's disappearance.
Investigators recently reopened the case and began tearing apart the basement in Manhattan's SoHo neighbourhood looking for clothing and human remains after a cadaver dog sensed something at the site.
In 1979, Othniel Miller, then a handyman, used the basement as his workshop. The building is a short walk from where Etan lived.
Investigators recently interviewed Mr Miller, who has not been charged with a crime.
His lawyer said the handyman was not involved in the boy's disappearance and that he is co-operating with the authorities.
On May 25, 1979, Etan's parents allowed him to go to the bus stop on his own - for the first time. They never saw him again.
President Ronald Reagan later declared that date to be National Missing Children's Day.
Etan was formally declared dead in 2001.
No one was ever criminally charged in the disappearance but in 2004 the Patz family won a $2m civil judgement against Jose Antonio Ramos, a friend of Etan's babysitter who has denied any involvement in the disappearance.

A hypothetical question:
Is there a danger in these cases where money has exchanged hands, with no proof,?
1) That the wrong person is penalised, not only financially but has their good name destroyed ?
2) That a money greedy family might actually not want the true abductor found, because they stand to lose such a large amount of money ?
Please note, I am not saying this about this family ... but maybe a Sharon Matthews sort of family.
