If he really had new evidence. He wouldn't be telling the public via press/media interviews. He would quietly head off to Portugal and present the evidence to reopen the process to the authorities there. Then he would head back to the UK and at the most, if he really did have evidence, SY would issue a press statement saying that the process has been reopened. Then SY would remain silent, as iirc they would be bound by judicial secrecy.
