Kate and Gerry McCann declared they will never give up their search for their missing daughter Madeleine as they took part in a 10-kilometre charity run.
Just three days after the fifth anniversary of Maddie's abduction, the couple took part at the busy Liverpool event for the first time.
Kate, 44, wore a white vest with a picture of Madeleine on the front and the words, 'Never give up' on the back.
It was the first year they felt able to take part in the event, which falls close to the anniversary of Madeleine's 2007 disappearance while on a holiday in Portugal.
Kate, quoted in the Daily Express, said yesterday: 'Thankfully, this year, with the involvement of the Metropolitan Police things are looking brighter for Madeleine and the search, so we were ready to give it a go.'
The Met has launched a £2million review of all the existing evidence and leads in the search for Maddie.
The team has sifted through more than 40,000 pieces of information, including files from the Portuguese police investigation and from the private detectives used by Madeleine’s parents.
It was the first time they had felt able to take part in the event, which falls every year close to the anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance
It has identified 195 potential new leads, among them are around 100 calls from people claiming to be psychics and those who said they dreamt about Madeleine.
Mr and Mrs McCann said the review had made their lives 'much more bearable'.
As part of the investigation, Scotland Yard issued an e-fit picture of how Maddie, now nine, is likely to look today.
Madeleine was nearly four when she went missing from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz as her parents dined with friends nearby.
The official Portuguese inquiry was formally shelved in July 2008, and refuse to reopen the case because claiming there is no new evidence.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood, who is leading the Met's review, said: ‘We genuinely believe there is a possibility she is alive.’
His team – of 28 officers and seven civilian staff – are following up the leads after examining a huge bundle of material, including a number of potential sightings from around the world.
They claim it could take a further three years to sift through the material, but Met commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe has stressed there is no limit on the amount of time and manpower he is prepared to lavish on the case.
In a statement to mark last week's five-year anniversary of her disappearance, on May 3, the couple said: ‘It’s hard to define succinctly how it feels to have reached five years without Madeleine – impossible, heart-breaking, frightening, exasperating, incomprehensible.
‘Sometimes it feels like forever and at other times, just like yesterday.’
Scotland Yard said: ‘We can confirm we are in close dialogue with Crimestoppers to ensure that all material in their possession – from any source – is shared with us.’
Yesterday, Kate vowed: "We'll never give up."

Re: McCanns Vow They Will Never Give Up
Kate does look so much better. I have tried to imagine how she must feel. Not possible of course, except in a very brief flash of insight. They aren't fighting alone anymore, and it has been acknowledge officially that at least The British Police believe them. The lifting of pressure must be enormous.
She is such a good looking woman, and it is a pleasure for me to see her looking good.
