Re: Rebekah Brooks Arrested!!!
Grounds for the arrest of Rebekah Brooks:
"Arrested on suspicion of conspiring to intercept communications + S 1 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1"
I understand the first part, not sure about the second part, but it does sound very serious

Re: Rebekah Brooks Arrested!!!
She was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to intercept communications (hacking) and on suspicion of corruption allegations, which is the Prevention of Corruption bit, and means they think she is complicit in the matters - also means she's assisting the police with their enquiries and will probably be bailed later today, unless they have concrete proof of her involvement.Chicane wrote:Grounds for the arrest of Rebekah Brooks:

The Prevention of Corruption Act 1906 (6 Edw.7 c.34) was an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland (as it was then). It is one of the Prevention of Corruption Acts 1889 to 1916.
Section 1 makes it an offence (formerly classified as a misdemeanour) subject to imprisonment up to 7 years:
for an agent to obtain a consideration as an inducement or reward for doing any act, or showing favour or disfavour to any person, in relation to his principal's affairs.
for any person to give a consideration to an agent to induce him to do an act in relation to his principal's affairs.
for any person or agent to knowingly falsify receipts, accounts or other documents with the intent to deceive the principal.
I confidently predict that this will go on and on till everyone has forgotten what it was about to begin with, if she is ever found guilty of anything Ms Brooks will get a fine and probation, there will no doubt be a load of waffle about it never happening again and lessons being learned, one or two pawns will be sacrificed...
