Derby house fire - arrests
I am sure we all remember the horrible fire in Derby recently, in which six children died. It is thought to be arson, and now there have been arrests:

Detectives investigating a fire in which six children died have arrested a 55-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman on suspicion of murder.

Derbyshire Police are refusing to confirm the identities of the two people who were arrested or where they were arrested.
I don't want to jump to conclusions, but those ages match the children's parents.

BREAKING NEWS: Father and mother of six children killed in Derby house fire arrested on suspicion of their murder
By TOM GARDNER
PUBLISHED: 10:55, 29 May 2012 | UPDATED: 11:42, 29 May 2012
The father and mother of six children killed in a house fire were this morning arrested on suspicion of murder.
In a dramatic development, Mick Philpott, 55, and his wife Mairead, 31, are in custody being questioned by detectives about the horrific blaze.
Just two weeks ago the couple, both from Derby, wept uncontrollably at an emotional press conference as officers described how petrol had been poured through the family’s letterbox and set alight.

Not much anyone can say to that, really. If it is proven in court that they did it - it's unimaginable, appalling - there aren't the words.

Re: Derby house fire - arrests
It seems a bit strange. If both parents did this to get a larger house they would not have intended to actually kill the children, would they? And if not, would it still be Murder?
Not that I would wish to excuse them if they did, but what mother in her right mind would agree to such a dangerous and diabolical plan?

Re: Derby house fire - arrests
Sabot, I would not be surprised if it turns out they have done something utterly stupid, like setting fire to the front door intending to pretend they were being victimised in the hope of getting another house.
And being utterly stupid, didn't realise how fast the fire would spread.
I don't see them deliberately killing their children so horribly - not that that makes any difference to the consequences.
In passing, it is shocking - though sadly not surprising - that the ghouls are using this as yet another stick to beat the McCanns with.

As usual, I guess it is best to wait and see what charges are actually brought, if any.
And yes, Bonny, I have noticed The Ghouls. Their ability to link The McCanns to every disaster in the world is truly remarkable. Poor, sick minded sods. What a state to live in.

Derby Fire Deaths: More Time To Quiz Parents
Police have been given more time to question the parents of six children killed in an arson attack on their home in Derby.
Mick Philpott, 55, and his wife Mairead, 31, were arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday.
Police have already confirmed petrol was used as an accelerant.
Duwayne Philpott, 13, Jade Philpott, 10, and brothers John Philpott, nine, Jack Philpott, seven, Jessie Philpott, six, and Jayden Philpott, five, all died as a result of the fire.
The fire broke out at the house, in Victory Road, Allenton, in the early hours of May 11.
At a news conference earlier Derbyshire Police Assistant Chief Constable Steve Cotterill asked people to come forward with any information about the fire.
"Please don’t see these two arrests as the police inquiry coming to an end, this is not the case," he said.
He had earlier issued a statement in which he said: "I suspect there may still be people with crucial information who have not yet come forward to speak to us.
"They have my personal reassurance that we will deal with their information sensitively.
"We still need information to help us in this inquiry. The latest arrests are just one step further in the investigation."
A 38-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, who were arrested on suspicion of murder shortly after the fire, were released without charge the following day.
Mr Philpott and his wife faced the media at a news conference five days after the fire.
He repeatedly dabbed his eyes as he thanked those who tried to rescue his children and members of the local community for their support.
Talking to reporters for about two and a half minutes, Mr Philpott repeatedly paused to compose himself and said he and his wife had decided to donate Duwayne's organs for transplant.
Tributes and gifts, which remain outside the house more than two weeks after the fire, are being moved with the family's agreement.
-----------
God help them if they started the fire; no-one else will.
We're probably best not to speculate too much; internet gossip has nearly wrecked one or two high-profile cases recently.

It's just coming through now that they have been charged with murder. If that is indeed the case, and is proven in court to be so - then I really don't think there is any punishment on the statute book that covers something so evil.

Derby Fire Deaths: Parents Charged With Murder
9:28pm UK, Wednesday May 30, 2012
The parents of six children killed in an arson attack on their home in Derby have been charged with murder.
Derbyshire Police had arrested Mick Philpott, 55, and his wife Mairead, 31, on suspicion of murder on Tuesday.
The pair will appear before Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on Thursday morning.
A Crown Prosecution Service spokesman said: "The evidence was reviewed by a Crown Advocate from the CPS East Midlands Complex Casework Unit, who decided that there was sufficient evidence to charge and that it is in the public interest for a prosecution to take place.
"It is important to note that the defendants are entitled to a fair trial and nothing should be said or reported that would prejudice that right."

The #McCann Legacy : Seven Dead Children.
Note: Mick Philpott just like Gerry McCann loves the camera the attention and both fancy themselves as celebrities . Both , famous for all the wrong reasons, dead children, both are criminals. Within days the Philpot family opened a webpage asking for donations to pay for their childrens funerals, to build a new house and support them through this tragic time. Not a lot of difference is there except the McCanns have corrupt politicians protecting them. The Philpots did not realize that !

Sadly, there is a lot of that going on in hateland today, Rose. IMO, it is beyond sick, and yet more proof - not that it is needed - that these creatures see everything in the world in relation to the McCanns.
It is also beyond sick that they are using the deaths of six children as yet another excuse to abuse the McCanns.
Mind you, who cares what that fraud Ironside says about anything?

I am thinking that if The Philpotts set fire to the house to get a larger house then they deliberately put their children at risk. Deliberate Endangerment is not Manslaughter, so therefor it must be Murder to some degree. This would explain a Murder Charge.

Re: Derby house fire - arrests
Well IMO:
Public opinion partly stems from opinion makers? UK has a number of, just IMO, bizarre TV personalities with sometimes shocking agressive reactionary right views, with the purpose to influencce a less critical audience that is 'forced" (because it is decent???) to accept uncritically their views as standard norm and act to that. And I put that mildly.
UK: example Jeremy Kyle
US too: Dr.Phil: Dr.Phil sets the standard. There is no room for a more nuanced view on things: The only positive thing about his show is that it goes beyond a TV program with high ratings, he actually tries to help his guests with continued assistance, though we never see any outcome of that. That makes him a hero and easy to swollow his narrow mind views.
Not me tho...

I am delighted to say I don't watch them, Rose. Or reality TV. Or celebrity dancing talent on ice or any of the other carp a fair percentage of the population is fascinated with.
I know what you mean, though - the Hang 'em and flog 'em, let's not bother with a trial brigade is as well represented on Braindead TV as it is on the sites that hate the McCann family. IMo, it is very telling that so many forkers and hounders are drawn to the far Right.

Thanks, Rose. I swear the ghouls are actually enjoying 'discussing' this - which translates as, posting the kind of material which causes cases to be dropped because the accused cannot get a fair trial, and blaming the McCanns.

It is very noticeable that, not only have the forkers and ghouls merrily siezed on the deaths of six children as a stick to beat the McCanns with.
They are also ignoring the fact that Mick Philpott has ELEVEN other children. Not one forker or ghoul has given the slightest thought to how they must be feeling right this minute, seeing their father facing these charges.

Yes you`d think so wouldn`t you, but the alternative cause or motive is just too awful to contemplate. I just can`t accept that anyone would kill so many of their own children. Its hard to accept that anyone would kill one or even two of their own children but mass paedocide by parents is incomprehensible.
