There is not much doubt that things have change somewhat, Lily, although I don't think that there are more peadophiles about, we just hear more about it. But children don't seem to be taught how to cope because they are rarely allowed out on their own. Consequently they have no idea of how to protect themselves.
I was told that if I came across a dirty old man I should kick him in the shins and scream blue murder, and no doubt someone would have helped me. But there is no way in which you can totally protect children.

Do you know, Lily, I can't remember if I worried about paedophiles when my children were small. I just told them to holler if they were scared by anything. But ultimately I wanted them to have fun and learn to cope on their own. What more can you do? And I am certainly not sorry for the huge amount of fun they had when I wasn't around.
Although I always went to The Tip with them in case they got bitten by Rats.

You just do your best for your children. They most definitely have to be protected where necessary (and age appropriate) but it has to be balanced by leaving them to get on with things that children like to do.

I should think young Miss Cameron had a whale of a time playing 'pubs' with the staff and doubtless being fussed over. She will also be able to hold this over her parents' heads for the rest of their lives.

I'm surprised they let an 8 year old girl go to the lavatory on her own. This surely can't be true. Can it? The Forkers would never have allowed this, not even in their own homes. To allow it in a Pub of all places, is definitely Neglect.

I'm surprised the forkers haven't started A Petition to get the Halfords' ad with the kids enjoying themselves on bikes, camping and - OMG!!! PLAYING IN WATER!!!! without a parent in sight banned.

Though the PM might not be the best person to hand it to....
