I'm not a fan of lie detectors, Pedro. I never forget that the Green River serial killer was a suspect until he PASSED one, and was released to carry on killing.
The real bad guys can pass them easily, and flustered innocent people fail them.

The bad guys sure can pass them.
I read books about the late heiress Joan Robinson of Texas whose surgeon husband allegedly killed her by giving her a French pastry laced with deadly bacteria. It was known that he took some drugs to help him pass the test. It's a really interesting story. Farrah Fawcett played Joan in a TV show about it.

Re: Sex Offender Lie Detector Tests 'A Success'
Many criminals, especially the more serious ones, are often found to be quite amoral, in other words they don't believe they have done wrong. This is why they can pass lie detector tests; a belief that they have total immunity from such things. An innocent person, knowing that mistakes can, and have been made in such cases, is going to be more jittery, are they not? Believing you have done no wrong and are therefore innocent does not mean you will not sweat or get nervous. Being amoral means you won't sweat or get nervous. Polygraph tests are not infallible as has been proved so many times - a killer gets off, an innocent man fries. LL

Yes, LL. I am glad that they are not an absolute in legal cases.

actually, in my opinion, these devices are not reliable, more failure, no credibility.
