What was that I heard him say on his way out of the door?
Ah, yes! "I'll be back!"
Of course he will be back just as soon as Cameron thinks we have all forgotten.

Re: 'Pleb' row minister resigns
The craziest thing about this thread is realising that headline is from the DAILY MAIL.
What is this world coming to?
Will the Mail push Labour, UKIP or these Tory ("we're all in it together") Toffs at the next election?
Are the Tories really taking their own motto "WE ARE ALL IN IT TOGETHER" seriously. LOL Of course they aren't.
But can we really go back to Labour?
Or can we trust UKIP (who took Anthony Bennett into their fold with his racist, homophobic ranting and illegal activities)?
Politicians are now so lacking in trust, decency and honesty that none can be trusted.

That is actually what struck me - it is unheard-of for the Mail to turn its guns on a Tory government.

Well the rumours have been around for a month or two that a certain editor will not even speak to the PM.

This beggars belief. If he can't sit in a Standard Carriage why didn't he buy a First Class Ticket?
Who the hell do these people think they are?
This is much more more serious than some oik like me nabbing a First Class seat because there is one going.
I frequently travelled First Class when my children were small, and I paid for First Class Tickets before I got on the train.

Excellent point. What was the idea of buying standard tickets if he can't sit there? Was this a scam to get extra from his expenses too I wonder? Pay standard and claim first? #justasking

I did passing wonder if he thought he was saving The Taxpayer's money, but I think your idea is more likely, Greenink.
I am gob smacked by the cheek of it. Isn't he The Chancellor of The Exchequer?

I especially appreciate what particular train he did it on...
The incident happened on a Virgin Trains service on the West Coast Mainline - the route franchise controversially awarded to FirstGroup before the decision was scrapped over "technical flaws" in the bid process.

Re: 'Pleb' row minister resigns
The other one:
A defence minister allegedly tried to have dozens of veterans thrown out of the Commons for opposing his plan to axe their historic battalion.
Parliamentary sources said Andrew Robathan demanded the men of the 2nd Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers be ejected from the public gallery for making too much noise during a heated debate over the unit’s future.
The request was denied by Commons deputy speaker Lindsay Hoyle who told the Tory armed forces minister to calm down and continue with the debate, in which the Government later lost a key vote.
Mr Robathan’s extraordinary intervention provoked an angry backlash last night.
Joe Eastwood, a former captain in the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers who served for 30 years and was mentioned in dispatches, said he was dismayed the minister had wanted the soldiers silenced.
‘We’re told the reason for us being in Iraq and Afghanistan is to help them lead a democratic life like us,’ said the 75 year old.
‘But who would want a democracy like ours, if when we go to watch a parliamentary debate we’re threatened with being chucked out.
‘Our supporters in parliament were ordinary chaps from London, Manchester, Birmingham and Newcastle who were simply showing their support for their brothers in arms facing the chop.’

Things certainly don't appear to have improved since the Expenses Scandal. They still think that they have a God given right to do as they please. But what can anyone do? If you don't vote they just get in by default.

Re: 'Pleb' row minister resigns
I don't know what will happen south of the border, where there are fewer alternatives, Sabot - no point in voting LibDem, they sold out, and Milliband isn't exactly attractive.
The danger is that disgruntled voters will go to extremists like the BNP - and UKIP isn't really mainstream, either.

It doesn't really matter to me, Bonny, since non of them are going to give me a half decent Pension. But I don't like watching UK going to the dogs.
I suspect that BNP and UKIP are going to make great inroads next time because people are really sick of all of the sleaze.

Tebbit blasts 'incompetent' Tories
David Cameron has faced strong criticism from Conservative grandee Lord Tebbit in the aftermath of Andrew Mitchell's resignation as chief whip.
After the blow of finally losing Mr Mitchell having previously backed him to stay, the Prime Minister was said to have allowed "this dog of a coalition Government" to look incompetent.
Lord Tebbit's criticism came amid reports that Mr Mitchell decided to quit after younger Tory MPs from the 2010 intake made clear their hostility when parliament returned this week.
Writing in The Observer, Lord Tebbit - a Cabinet minister in Margaret Thatcher's government - said: "This dog of a coalition government has let itself be given a bad name and now anybody can beat it.
"It has let itself be called a government of unfeeling toffs. Past governments have had far more real Tory toffs: prime ministers Alec Douglas-Home and Harold Macmillan, or even in Thatcher's day, Whitelaw, Soames, Hailsham, Carrington, Gowrie, Joseph, Avon, Trenchard and plenty more, without incurring similar abuse."
He added: "The abiding sin of the government is not that some ministers are rich, but that it seems unable to manage its affairs competently."
Mr Mitchell finally fell on his sword on Friday after admitting that the row over his confrontation with Downing Street police made his position untenable.
After weeks of criticism and speculation over his future, Mr Mitchell said it was not fair to put his colleagues and family through such "damaging" stories any longer.
He insisted in a letter to the Prime Minister that he had not referred to an officer on the gate in Downing Street as either a "pleb" or a "moron" but acknowledged delivering, after being told he could not ride his bike through the main gates, the parting line: "I thought you guys were supposed to f****** help us."
He was swiftly replaced as chief whip by Sir George Young.

Loud cheers from me. There are times when I so wish that I lived in Scotland. And if house prices hadn't got out of hand, I would have done years ago.
