PETITION: Tell World Leaders to End the Female Gendercide in India

Many parents welcome their newborns into the world with love and joy. Sadly, this is not always the case in India today. Last August, one infant's mother packed her in a plastic bag and attempted to throw her from a moving train. Luckily, other passengers managed to save the baby, but countless other girls are not as fortunate.

Over the past three generations, 50 million Indian girls have gone "missing" due to practices like female infanticide, feticide, and dowry murders. Such a widespread injustice seems almost impossible to fight; that's why It's a Girl has partnered with the 50 Million Missing campaign to give people simple, direct ways to take a stand for girls where they're most at risk.

We have launched a petition demanding that the Indian government take immediate action to enforce existing laws against gendercide, create a rapid action task force to protect little girls, and make hospitals, government offices, and law enforcement agencies accountable for preventing this horrible crime.
