Teacher convicted of sex crimes with penalty attenuated

The Oporto Relation reduced the suspended sentence imposed in the first instance to a geography teacher who sexually abused students, judicial sources said.

The faculty of the School Clara de Resende, in Porto, had been convicted in legal height, three and a half years' imprisonment, suspended on probation for molesting three students, now seeing the sentence reduced to three years, also suspended.

Given an action of the defendant, the Oporto considered that the teacher could only be convicted of crimes against two students and not against three, because, in one case, were to meet the legal requirements for that prosecutors move forward with the procedure criminal.

The compensation set out in the first instance, a total of 9,500 euros, were maintained.

The Criminal Courts of Oporto condemned the teacher, May 19, 2011, for a crime of sexual abuse of children and other simple continued, as well as a crime of sexual harassment.
