Legal Action For 'Venables Twitter Photo'

Contempt proceedings are brought against individuals who posted photographs purporting to show Jon Venables or Robert Thompson.

The Attorney General has announced contempt proceedings will be made against individuals who posted photographs purporting to show Jon Venables or Robert Thompson.

A statement from Dominic Grieve MP said court papers would be served against a number of individuals shortly.

Under the terms of an injunction, publication of any image or information purporting to identify anyone as Venables or Thompson is prohibited.

The terms of the order mean that if a picture claims to be one of James Bulger's killers, even if it is not actually them, it would breach the order.

The statement said: "There are many different images circulating online claiming to be of Venables or Thompson; potentially innocent individuals may be wrongly identified as being one of the two men and placed in danger.

"Breaches of the order may be a contempt of court punishable by a fine and/or imprisonment.

"It is also a criminal offence to encourage others to commit acts of violence or to publish online malicious communications."

Venables was 10 when he and classmate Thompson abducted and murdered two-year-old James in Liverpool in February 1993.

Images recently appeared on the social network site Twitter claiming to show an adult Venables, who was released from jail on licence with a new identity in 2001.

Dame Elizabeth Butler-Sloss, of the High Court Family Division, made an unprecedented court order banning publication of any information which could lead to the revelation of their new identities.

Venables, now 30, had his parole revoked in 2010 and was jailed for two years after admitting downloading and distributing indecent images of children.

James's mother Denise Fergus, has always opposed the injunction, fearing it could lead to innocent men being accused of being James's killers.

I am reading elsewhere that that's why SWALK's site is gone, she took it upon herself to accuse someone of being Venables.

I am really rather disgusted that pure filth like them 2 will have a liftime of anoymity(sp) at the expense of people who go to work. If people felt that they'd got what they deserved, there wouldn't be the urge to find their pictures and plaster them all over all of the time.

So she spends 6 years slating, harassing, and biatching about the parents of an abducted child and carries on without impunity, yet posts a pic up of someone who may have been Thompson or Venables and is pulled off the air? Says it all about the state of this cesspit of a country.

I share your anger - IMO, niether Venables or Thomson should ever have been released.

But the thing is - she and others have been ACCUSING people of being one of the sh*ts, and we all know what her idea of 'research' is. God knows who she targetted - I haven't looked at her bog for a very long time.

I was beyond disgusted. She's a hypocrite, apart from anything else.

SOCIAL media users have shared pictures of a man they claim is Jon Venables amid fears the evil killer could be handed a FIFTH secret identity.

This week, The Sun revealed that Venables, 35, who murdered toddler James Bulger in 1993, has been thrown back in jail after being caught with child porn for a second time.

Now angry members of the public have been sharing photos, which they claim shows the depraved killer, in a bid to blow his lifelong anonymity, reports The Daily Star.

Venables has been handed four secret identities - each costing the UK taxpayer £250,000 - since being released from jail in 2011.

The pictures allegedly showing the now 35-year-old have since been taken down by internet bosses.

And there are fears that Venables could be handed a fifth identity after he was jailed again for possessing child abuse images.

The Star reports that a legal source said Venables’ right to anonymity may be reviewed following his latest stint in prison

Venables and accomplice Robert Thomspon kidnapped tot James from a shopping centre in Merseyside in 1993 before torturing, sexual assaulting and killing the child.

The brutality of the crime and the age of the killers, who were both 10 at the time, caused outrage in Britain.

Aside from Thompson and Venables, only child killer Mary Bell and Maxine Carr – the former lover of Soham murderer Ian Huntley – have been handed new identities by the state.

Venables has not yet been charged with any offence but is now also the subject of a major police investigation.

The “immediate recall” procedure means Venables has been returned to prison twice in the last decade despite vast sums – estimated at up to £5 MILLION - being spent on his rehabilitation.

The infamous murderer was caged in 2010 after he was caught downloading and distributing child abuse images.

After Venables was freed on parole again in July 2013, James’ anguished dad Ralph Bulger warned: “It is only a matter of time before he caves in to his lust for young children again.”

Venables is understood to have been living in a secret location in the North of England under another new identity given to him following his release from prison in 2013.

But news of his second recall to custody in just seven years is sure to spark fury from James’ parents, Denise Fergus and Ralph.

John Venables is the bad one. The other one, whose name I can't remember has stayed well out of trouble and never put a foot wrong since his release.

Which leads one to suspect who was the prime mover in the first place. Really sad for what was a child. Venables had all the help that could possibly have been offered but it just didn't work. And probably never will.

This is something that should be left to experts. Sadly, the experts don't seem to know what they are doing in the case of Venables.

There has to be a last chance saloon for this man, but when is it going to happen?

The Judiciary seem to have fallen into a Maximum Sentence situation wherein his original crime doesn't appear to be taken into consideration, so there is a limit to the amount of prison time that he can be given. But I fear that he is dangerous. Although what good a debate in Parliament will do is a bit beyond me.
