A remarkable man, LL. And a very lucky one, to survive the bloodbath when the plot failed.
Who knows, history might be very different if he had been the one who planted the bomb?

How did he get away with it? Terrible things were done to those who were caught.

No real sense to anything that Hitler did. The man was a monster. But no one knew that in the beginning, or could possibly have envisaged his megalomania.
I suppose that I might be glad that I was born before The War and have a fair idea of what happened. My own children aren't really interested, sad to say.
