Lanzarote Kidnap Attempt: Face Of Wanted Man
Pictures of a man who apparently tried to snatch a British girl on holiday - taken by the child's parents - are released.
The photographs were taken by the girl's family at the beach
Police have released photos of a man - believed to be British - who allegedly tried to abduct a three-year-old girl from her parents in the Canary Islands.
A family from Milton Keynes were on holiday in Costa Teguise in Lanzarote on January 30 last year when a man attempted to kidnap the girl in a shop.
The victim's father noticed she was missing, left a store and spotted the youngster being led around a corner into an alleyway by a man, who was holding her by the hand.
He shouted out and ran up to his daughter, pulling her away from the man who then left the scene.
The family were on the beach a short time later and saw the same man, who spoke fluent English, sitting between some rocks and acting suspiciously.
The victim's father confronted the suspect but he had gone before police arrived.
The family says the man was acting suspiciously on the beach
The family took photos of the man which have now been released by police in an attempt to identify him.
The suspect is white, with pasty skin, aged between 40 and 55, stocky with broad shoulders and around 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins tall. He had short dark hair and a dark moustache.
Detective Constable John Swallow, the investigating officer, said: "This is a very concerning incident in which a young girl was led away from her family by an unknown man.
"The victim's father knew it was his daughter being led around the corner because he recognised her flashing trainers.
"The incident was reported to Thames Valley Police after initially being reported to police in Lanzarote and we have been making enquiries to try to establish the man's identity since then.
"We are working closely with the Spanish authorities and Interpol on this case and will continue to do so.
"We have reason to believe he may be a British citizen as he spoke fluent English and made references to being on holiday.
"I am appealing for anyone who recognises the man in the images or has information on his whereabouts to contact police as soon as possible."

Re: Man wanted for alleged Lanzarote child abduction attempt
A picture was released by detectives today of a man suspected of trying to abduct a three-year-old British girl in the Canary Islands.
A family from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, were on holiday in Costa Teguise in Lanzarote when a man - believed to be British - attempted to kidnap the girl in a shop.
The victim's father noticed she was missing, left a store and spotted the youngster being led around a corner into an alleyway by a man, who was holding her by the hand.
He shouted out and ran up to his daughter, pulling her away from the man who then left the scene.
The incident has chilling similarities to the disappearance of three-year-old Madeleine McCann, who went missing from her apartment in Portugal in 2007 and has never been seen since.
The family were on the beach a short time later and saw the same man, who spoke fluent English, sitting between some rocks and acting suspiciously.
The victim's father confronted the suspect, but he left the scene before police arrived.
But the quick-thinking family took photos of the man, which have been released by police today, in an attempt to identify him.
The suspect is described as white, with pasty skin, of stocky build with broad shoulders, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins, 40 to 55 years old, with short dark hair and a dark moustache.
The incident happened on January 30 last year, but Thames Valley Police spokesman said the delay in issuing the pictures was due to Spanish police having to exhaust their investigation before the appeal to find the man could move to Britain.

Investigating officer Detective Constable John Swallow: 'This is a very concerning incident in which a young girl was led away from her family by an unknown man.

Madeleine, left, and a computer generated image of how she may look now, six years after she disappeared
A near six-year search for Madeleine has yet to solve the mystery of her disappearance from the Algarve resort of Praia da Luiz on May 3, 2007.
There have been dozens of alleged sightings and leads over the years, but nothing has come close to establishing whether she is alive or dead.
In the latest development last month, detectives believe a team of British cleaners may hold the key to her whereabouts.
Owners of apartments in the Portuguese holiday complex where Maddie and her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, were staying when she vanished have been asked about cleaners in the area who had a white van.
One property owner said police told him they are looking for a group of six to eight British cleaners who drove around the Praia da Luz area in a white van, working in holiday apartments.
Operation Grange was set up by the Metropolitan Police two years ago at the request of Prime Minister David Cameron following a plea by Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry, of Rothley, Leicestershire.

Call me silly, but as there is actually a photo of the man:
and he is thought to be British, might it not have been a good idea to put his photo on the front of UK newspapers a long while ago?
Oh wait, Yuman Rites....

Re: Man wanted for alleged Lanzarote child abduction attempt
And it hasn't taken long for the hounders to start making asinine remarks like:
: Another candidate for the "abductor"
PeterMac Today at 1:19 pm
"The incident happened on January 30 last year, "
So it is already 14 months old. Not bad, even for a tabloid.
But seriously - what is happening elsewhere ?
What is happening with Dr Amaral's case.
What are Grange doing ?
Who is being questioned ?
CM has released this for a good reason. What is it ?
============
Clarrie has clearly done this for a reason.

Good for that father being so quick witted.
I do notice how quickly the hounders turned the subject around from that child in that post by Petermac.

Re: Man wanted for alleged Lanzarote child abduction attempt
Did you notice they are already pitchforking this child's parents, with boast of what they would of dun if it woz them what woz there?
This can't be for real, why did the parent allow the guy to leave in the first place and then seeing the same man later on at the beach and only taking a photo ? Did he not ask his daughter why she was walking away with this guy ?
A bloody nose at least, if it was my child !
None of them was there, we only have tabloid reports of the incident/s - but has that stopped them? Of course not. And notice they are totally disinterested in the alleged would-be abductor.....just sniping at the child's parents and telling themselves Clarence Mitchell has invented the whole thing.
Sick, sick sick.

Pretendypete again:
Clarrie must have had this one up his sleeve ready for some time.
So, the parents of this child, and the Spanish police, are IN IT now as well? I see.

Wouldn't it be a lot easier if they just made a list of those who are are NOT IN IT?

Naturally, the story has provoked an outpouring of bile, and cretinous remarks like
e: Jump on the bandwagon?
almostgothic Today at 9:35
OK, so I'm now thinking ...
...... this is more of a James Murray Sunday Special, so why Thursday? Why couldn't it wait?
Is another more important story about to break and does it need to be smothered with all this crap?
Better go and tell this guy it's crap, then, I am sure he will pleased to know he's supported by a load of McCann-hating idiots:

Man Held Over Lanzarote Kidnap Claims
A 62-year-old is arrested in London just hours after a man was allegedly seen trying to lead away a girl from a shopping centre.
Incidentally, if they ever took their McCann-goggles off, they would know that one or two 'important stories' have already broken.
Unless they think that Maggie Thatcher died, and the Dear Leader is waving nuclear warheads around, to divert attention from something the McCanns are doing?

Forker:
No mention then of irresponsible parents not watching their 3 year old whilst in a shop, or anywhere else for that matter.
Always good to be reminded where their priorities lie; with pitchforking parents.
As usual, none of them have had a word of condemnation for scumbags who try to abduct little girls. Wonder why that would be?

Brit father in Maddie cops hols kid probe
Snapped ... suspect

Published: 20 minutes ago
A BRIT arrested over an alleged holiday child abduction attempt probed by Madeleine McCann cops is a father of two.
Married James Lawlor, 62 — also known as John — was held at his North West London home on Wednesday night.
Police had launched an appeal after a little girl’s dad said he stopped a man taking her from a mall in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote.
They received a tip-off after releasing a picture of the suspect taken by the three-year-old’s dad, of Milton Keynes, Bucks.
Landscape gardener Lawlor lives in Harrow with cleaner wife Ann, 56, and has two daughters — solicitor Rowena, 27, and council worker Denise, 22.
A woman answering the door last night declined to comment.
A neighbour said: “We are all shocked. He seemed a very nice man.”
Officers confirmed a 62- year-old held in Harrow was still being quizzed last night on suspicion of attempted kidnap.
Met Police probing Maddie’s disappearance in Portugal in 2007 are working with Thames Valley cops on the Lanzarote case.
The dad who confronted the man in January last year later saw him at a beach

Perhaps a further investigation might bring to light the real source of this absurd journalism ..
Maybe best start with the Spanish police, then, as it seems they tried to find him by other means, and failed, which left releasing the photo as the only alternative?
Seriously, what is wrong with these people? Are they incapable of following ANY news story and understanding it?
He's been found, questioned and released on bail:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2307921/Lanzarote-Madeleine-McCann-style-kidnap-attempt-Man-bailed-abduction-British-girl-3.html
It's up to the UK, and more importantly, the Spanish police, what happens next. It beggars belief that hounders are making remarks like:
What a disgrace this sort of reporting!
I second doctor Gerry McCann: to the dungeons with the scribbler!
I don't know what planet these people are on, but I wish they'd stay there.
