Dutch police guard after school shooting threat on the Internet
Armed police were placed with two dozen high schools in the city of Leiden in the western Netherlands, closed today after a shooting threat made by a student on the Internet, released the Dutch media.
"This morning, the police are to guard the entrances to the secondary schools of Leiden," said public television NOS internet adding that agents are present "in case."
The police, the prosecutors, the municipality and the school directors decided on Sunday night, close the high schools of the small town, after publication, an Internet forum, a threat of "serious" shooting, according to the mayor City, cited by 'media'.
Published in the American website 4chan.org, the message in English, asserted that "tomorrow (Monday), I'll shoot my teacher and many students as possible."
"It is a school of a Dutch town called Leiden and I will use one Colt Defender 9mm," continued the author of the message.
Dutch police, who did not respond to questions from the French agency AFP, have been informed by the Swiss authorities about the message, which led to the establishment of contacts with the FBI (U.S. Federal Police).
According to the U.S., the author of the message, which stated find a way to not be found by the police, has not been identified.
Primary schools are open, but some of them are not allow children to play outside of establishments and some parents decided to leave their children at home.
School principals will have another meeting today to decide whether schools will be closed or will reopen on Tuesday.
In 2009 a similar threat was posted by a 18 year old who threatened to open fire at a school in Breda, in Holland, on the same website.
The young man was arrested and quickly said that it was all a "joke".
The April 9, 2011, a man opened fire in a shopping center in Alphen ann den Rijn, in the west of the country, killing six people and eleven wounded. The man later committed suicide.
