I can think of no good reason for Portugal to refuse to show it, beyond someone's scared about what may come of it?

Or they don't want reminded that it should have been done six years ago, with no stupid excuses about 'closing airspace'.

And now someone who sounds strangely like Bennett is telling McCann-haters how to annoy Crimewatch....

Who would have thought that someone from the Madeleine McCann Research Group could write a piece sounding just like Bennett.

Personally I do not believe they are going to do a crimewatch programme, all this publicity is because they are losing big time the court case in lisbon. The mccanns are a pair of fools and so are those supporting them. At the last minute this crimewatch programme will be cancelled and replaced by something else typical mccann tactics. Who really believes they are going to film crimewatch in spain when the crime happened in portugal - it is all a bluff.

I most certainly don't, Pedro. I do my best to read the Portuguese press, I can see how angry ordinary people are about corruption, dirty cops, etc.

And it must be dreadful for your hard-working, honest, police officers to get tarred with Gonc's dirty brush.

Following a BBC reconstruction, Mr and Mrs McCann will make a live appeal from Crimewatch’s studio in Cardiff when the programme is aired at 9pm on October 14. Similar programmes will be broadcast in Germany and Holland in an attempt to reach those who were on holiday in Praia da Luz at the time of Madeleine’s disappearance.
There are no plans by Portuguese broadcasters to carry an appeal. Portuguese police and the wider public there have been hostile to the plight of the couple.
When Madeleine vanished there was widespread criticism of local detectives over their conduct. Police in Britain opened up their own official inquiry after a direct plea from the McCanns to David Cameron.

Let's hope the bad press coverage they're getting encourages the Portuguese media to rethink.
