London's Apollo Theatre's roof collapses
A part of the domed roof has collapsed, eyewitnesses said
Part of a roof in the Apollo Theatre in central London has collapsed during a performance.
The theatre in Shaftesbury Avenue was packed for a performance of the Curious Incident Of The Dog in the Night-time.
An eyewitness said she heard "a crackling" noise before the collapse at about 20:15 GMT. Another eyewitness said the "entire dome roof" fell on audience members seated in the stalls.
London Ambulance said there were 30 casualties including walking wounded.
London Fire Brigade said eight fire engines were attending and police are also at the scene in London's busy Theatreland.
Witnesses said they saw people leaving the building, covered in dust and debris - with some people bleeding and crying.
'Strange crackling noise'
Amy Lecoz, who was at the theatre with her two children, aged 16 and 19, said: "The entire dome roof fell down on the audience just in front of us.
"We were protected by the balcony above and we ran. People started screaming.
Theatre-goer Lucy Atherton: "The ceiling just fell in"
"We thought it was water... We thought it was a part of the show. I grabbed my kids and ran."
Another witness said she heard a "strange crackling noise" before "the roof just crumpled".
The theatre "suddenly went dark" with "dust clouds everywhere", she said.
"You could see everyone ran off the stage... it went dark".
'Quite panicked'
The witness said police and emergency crews were at the scene within minutes.

A 29-year-old audience member, who only gave his name as Ben, said: "It was about halfway through the first half of the show and there was a lot of creaking.
"We thought it was part of the scene, it was a seaside scene, but then there was a lot of crashing noise and part of the roof caved in.
"There was dust everywhere, everybody's covered in dust. We got out fairly quickly, I think everyone was quite panicked."
The Apollo was built in 1901. It is owned and operated by Nimax Theatres and has 775 seats over four levels.
Jess Bowie was also in the theatre and said in a tweet that the experience was "absolutely petrifying... people outside are covered in dust and some in blood. Utterly horrible".
The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time has been running in London since August 2012. The show started at The National Theatre, before transferring to the Apollo in March this year.

Same story, with pics:
Let's hope none of the injuries are serious.
I've always had a 'thing' about theatre balconies, and found myself wondering what was actually keeping the big, sweeping ones up.

That's awful. Just a few days ago it was a helicopter on a roof and now a roof caves in. So sorry to read this.

Apologies, I misread it, I thought it was a balcony, not the roof....that is bizarre.

South London Bus Crash: 32 People Injured
Emergency officials say they have freed the remaining passengers trapped inside the bus, which struck a tree in south London
Police say 32 people have been injured in a bus crash in south London, with seven in serious condition, after the bus struck a tree.
The incident occurred around 10.50am on Kennington Road, near the Imperial War Museum, while the number 59 bus was en route to King's Cross.
Police say initial witness reports suggesting the bus swerved to avoid a car are false.
Emergency officials said in a news conference this afternoon that several passengers trapped inside the bus had been freed.
A 19-year-old woman and a man were the last two passengers rescued.
Clive Robinson, from London Fire Brigade, said workers had to cut through the body work of the bus to free several passengers. Ladders also had to be used to reach those on the top deck.
He said the top level of the bus partially collapsed in the crash and workers used hydraulic equipment to stabilise it.
Among the injured were two police officers who were also taken to hospital - one with a suspected broken arm.
Aerial footage from the scene showed the front of the bus, operated by Arriva, collapsed around the trunk of a tree, with fire and ambulance crews at the scene of the crash.
Transport for London said there will be a thorough investigation.
Mike Weston, TfL's director for buses, said: "Our first concern is, of course, for the driver, passengers and others involved in this incident.
"There will be a thorough investigation into this incident as a matter of urgency."
Police say they still do not know what caused the crash and will be viewing CCTV footage from inside the bus.
Kennington Road is currently closed in both directions with routes 3, 59, 159 and 360 currently on diversion. It is expected the road will remain closed for the rest of the day.
