Re: Star - Maddie Cops at war
Frustrated British police fear Portuguese officers are chasing the wrong suspect in the hunt for Madeleine McCann.
And they warn that an 'us against them' attitude could wreck the search.
A source close to the UK inquiry told the Daily Star: 'This is not a game. A little girl's life could be at stake.'

I shouldn't think the Yard were too thrilled about interviews being conducted in cafes, either.

This was the time for the Portuguese police to show the world what they are made of. Sadly, it looks like it is failing.

Let me guess... This "source" is closer to the family than to the inquiry.
Yet another desperate attempt to derail things. Must be really nervous....
The only reason for the McCanns to be 'nervous' because some of the PJ are chasing dead, black, junkie tractor drivers is that they have good reason to think that is totally the wrong direction.
And is NOT helping to find their missing daughter.

I think we can read 'the Portuguese have got it wrong' as the 'Portuguese have got it right'.
Oh, so now the hounders think the dead, black, junkie tractor driver DID abduct Madeleine? They didn't this morning.

I find it astounding that the haters have somehow managed to 'forget' that Tractorman is a PJ suspect, not a Yard suspect, and are accordingly blaming all this on Evil Clarrie.
They really are reality-challenged.

Portuguese police are bungling the hunt for Madeleine McCann, say Brit detectives
FRUSTRATED British police fear Portuguese officers are chasing the wrong lead in the hunt for Madeleine McCann.
Top brass are desperate to liaise with their foreign colleagues after it emerged they are chasing different suspects.
UK detectives are worried an “us against them” scenario is developing, and it could hinder attempts to find the missing girl.
British investigators believe the three-year-old was snatched after disturbing burglars who broke into her parents’ holiday apartment.
And their chief suspects are a three-strong gang who made a high number of mobile calls nearby on the night Maddie vanished.
But Portuguese detectives are concentrating their efforts on a theory that a now-dead heroin addict abducted Madeleine.
They believe Euclides Monteiro snatched her in a twisted act of revenge against the Ocean Club holiday resort after he had been sacked from a job there the year before.
They have questioned his widow Luisa after mobile phone analysis placed his handset near the McCanns’ apartment in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz that night in May, 2007.
Monteiro, 40, was killed in a tractor accident four years ago.
Police from both nations launched separate hunts for Madeleine last year after each spent two years reviewing files from the original case, shelved as an unsolved mystery in 2008.
Though each force claims to have unearthed new leads, their inquiries are heading in different directions.
A source close to the UK inquiry said: “If we don’t form a joint investigation task force, any advantages in terms of pooling resources and information may be lost.
“We can’t have an ‘us against them’ scenario developing. This is not a game. A little girl’s life may be at stake.’’
“We can’t have an ‘us against them’ scenario developing. This is not a game. A little girl’s life may be at stake”
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe has called on the UK and Portuguese governments to form a joint international task force to conduct a single united inquiry.
He said the UK and Portuguese probes were “two separate inquiries with a different focus”.
And he added: “It’s important that we work together on what is clearly a common problem.’’
Yesterday Luisa Rodrigues, 40, said she was sure her husband did not snatch Madeleine. She said when Portuguese detectives told her he was their No 1 suspect, she was “speechless”.
She added: “They said they suspected him because he used to work at the Ocean Club complex and because they had tracked the signal from his mobile.
“But I’m sure he would have been at home watching TV. That’s what he always did after work

We've got a General Election here next year, lj, and David Cameron's Conservative Party will be pulling out all the stops to remind the public of the danger inherent in inflicting another Labour govenment on the country.
What better way to jog the memories of the 'common people' than the trial of those who perpetrated a heinous crime on a 3 year child which will undoubtedly reveal how the machinations of Blair and Brown effectively impeded the course of justice?
If they ever took their hategoggles off, they would know that the McCann case is just about bottom of Cameron's list of things to worry about.

And the PJ are ALWAYS right - aren't they? Because they are St Amoral's colleagues, so it is impossible for them to be wrong, ever :s_yes
So the PJ are right and Tractor man abducted Madeleine.
Quite. It's terrifying that the McCann-haters seem incapable of grasping that it is the PJ who are pursuing Tractorman, nothing to do with the Yard.

Re: Star - Maddie Cops at war
It always did worry me a little that The PJ and Scotland Yard seemed to be following different leads. But this could have been one upmanship.
The dead man obviously wasn't running around PdL carrying Madeleine because he was black, so it's very doubtful that he even showed his face anywhere around town. But he was in PdL that night so he might have been in the appartment and then passed Madeleine to someone else.
This could all come together if they jointly catch up with the people he was exchanging phone calls with.
The thing is that it isn't very likely that SY had access to his criminal record, while The PJ obviously will have done.

Sabot, I have no idea who is right and who is wrong, if anyone - both lines of enquiry have some merit, IMO, and they're not really mutually exclusive. Junkies do tend to know other scumbags, after all.
A public spat between the police isn't good reading, though - it seems to have been triggered by Mrs Tractorman. Maybe the Yard were horrified by the interview in the cafe, for all the world to hear? I don't know, and actually, it's no-one's business except the police.
I ask again, why are haters so STUPID?

Clarrie works for the PJ now, does he? Because it's the PJ that all this Tractorman stuff is coming from.
This is very revealing. They're so desperate to reinforce their beloved forum myths, they're seeing words in stories that aren't there, and not reading printed words that actually are.

1. The PJ are always right
2. The PJ suspect Tractor man.
3. Goldberg has taken the piss out of any police force believing Tractor man is the suspect.
4. So Goldberg has been taking the piss out of the PJ
5. Ergo, Goldberg is a pro McCann.

I do think that The PJ desperately want to be seen as The Force that solves this case. And nothing wrong with that.
But Scotland Yard are the ones who appear to have spotted the phone calls. It then follows that The PJ would check Criminal Records which SY won't have access to.
I don't care if TractorMan is dead. He was likely involved in it somewhere. He wasn't in PdL having a few drinks with his mates.

Tricia Doolan Oh dear, the pj not going with the abduction theory...AGAIN.
Totally and utterly wrong.
The PJ are the ones who suspect Tractorman. As they would know, if they ever managed to read and understand simple English.
It must be worse than we thought - they can't even understand what's in the Star.

I've no great theories, Sabot, I am simply fascinated by the way the McCann haters are refusing to admit that Tractorman is the PJ's main suspect, and that the leaks are coming from Portugal again - possibly from eavesdroppers in cafes.
Here's a thing, though. If you had been holidaying in the PDL area a few years ago, how happy would you be if you found out that that nice lady who was helping tourists was actually the wife of a junkie that had been sacked from the OC, where you are staying, for theft?
Reassure you much, would it?

I don't know what to say about her, Bonny. But her statement that he would have been at home that night is decidedly odd.
His phone was in PdL. So either that was a one off which she will have remembered. Or he made a habit of going out in the evenings.
PS. It never ceases to amaze me that unemployed dead beats can afford vast numbers of cell phone calls. So who was paying his phone bill?
