Authorities have found a three-year-old girl at the centre of a major police investigation in south-east Queensland.

Chloe Campbell was reported missing from a home at Childers on Thursday morning.

Her disappearance sparked an extensive search and authorities issued a child abduction alert.

A child was located late this evening at the local showgrounds and is now in the care of the Queensland Police Service.

No other details are known at this stage

That is beyond joyous news. Thank heavens she is home again.

Why on EARTH would Rupert Murdoch pay this child's parents to let him abduct her? What a whackjob.

After three days of anguish , the girl of three years who disappeared during the night when the parents left home , returned to her parents .

Chloe Campbell , with three years , disappeared from the parental home in Childers in Brisbane , in northeastern Australia , on the morning of Thursday, after they leave their three daughters at home - Sisters of Chloe have 5 to 8 years - without any adult supervision .

Police issued the alert child's disappearance around 09h00 local (00h00 in Lisbon ) and triggered a search operation that reached the ports and Brisbane airport . However , 42 hours later, the story met a happy ending .

Police initially thought that it was a kidnapping by someone who will have entered the house through the windows of the Campbell family , which would be open when the girl disappeared . The resemblance of the disappearance , along with the physical similarities between the two , which led to the media called the case of ' Australian Maddie ' , alluding to Madeleine McCann , who disappeared in 2007 , when she was three years from Praia da Luz , Algarve , after parents have left and younger siblings home alone .

A three year old child was found wandering alone in the street at around 01:00, Australian time (16h00 in Lisbon ) .

Chloe appeared not far from home , while walking in the opposite residence of her parents. She was taken to hospital as a precaution , though not showed signs of injury .

Little is known about the police investigation , but authorities say they have in their possession pictures security of the houses in the neighborhood showing two adults and a child walking in the town of about 1,500 people. Parents allege to make sure that their younger daughter was abducted and say she would never leave home alone by foot.
