Man Shouting 'Allahu Akbar' Drives Into Crowd
At least 11 people are injured after an attacker, described as "unbalanced", repeatedly drives into passers-by.

A man heard shouting "Allahu Akbar" ("God is great") has been arrested in France after driving into several crowds of people.

At least 11 people were injured, two of them seriously, after the driver targeted passers-by in five different areas of the eastern city of Dijon.

Witnesses told police he was also heard shouting he was "acting for the children of Palestine".

The attack came a day after French police shot dead another man who stabbed three officers in a police station in the central town of Joue-les-Tours.

The 20-year-old, who had converted to Islam, was also heard shouting "Allahu Akbar".

This latest attacker was known to authorities, a source close to the investigation said.

"The man, born in 1974, is apparently unbalanced and had been in a psychiatric hospital," the source said, adding that "for now his motives are still unclear".

According to French newspaper Le Figaro, three people were in the car at the time of the attack.

Call me silly, but I would have thought the whackjob's motives were perfectly clear.....

I have little doubt that they are going to carry on, Lily. These crazies are easy meat to incite at the best of times, never mind now. And they don't need to be part of any 'terrorist cell', they just have to log onto the internet to get all the propaganda and indoctrination they need.

France attack: Van driven into shoppers in Nantes

A van has been driven into shoppers at a Christmas market in the French city of Nantes leaving 10 people injured.

In two previous incidents over the weekend, attackers shouted "God is great" in Arabic, raising fears of copycat attacks.

In Nantes, the driver is said to have stabbed himself and officials said he appeared to be unbalanced.

President Francois Hollande has called for an emergency cabinet meeting and urged the public not to panic.

Prime Minister Manuel Valls also called for "cool-headedness".

In Dijon on Sunday, a driver shouting "Allahu Akbar" ploughed his vehicle into pedestrians, injuring 13 people. On Saturday, a man using the same phrase was shot dead by police after attacking them.

A man armed with two loaded pump-action shotguns and a knife has been arrested in Cannes, French media have reported.

The suspect was "armed to the teeth" and had been tracked by CCTV as he headed into the centre of the town, according to reports.

Sky's Mark White said the alarm was raised early this morning and police were deployed to tackle the suspect immediately.

He was arrested with two fully-loaded shotguns and a knife with a 25cm blade, White said, quoting reports.

The arrest came after it was announced that hundreds more soldiers will be deployed in France following a spate of attacks in cities in the run-up to Christmas.

I doubt very much if any of this is organised or co-ordinated, it is 'only' insane people steeped in jihadist propaganda.

Which may make them MORE dangerous, as it's impossible to predict what worms are squirming away in their heads.
