Remember the Moon Landing deniers on the 3As?

The conspiracy theorists were in their element denying it happened, if you recall.
Some even claimed to be scientists etc.
So, when I saw this article there was only one thing to do.......

Re: Remember the Moon Landing deniers on the 3As?
Oh, they're very good, Lily, thanks!
I have this Theory that Moon Landing Deniers are actually Evil Government Shrills paid to give conspiracy theorists a bad name, as they're even dumber than the 'holographic planes on 9/11' squad.
So, the person that was responsible for the first-ever space photo from the V2 is the same person as put man on the Moon? There's a strange irony there.

I find there is something really amazing to them in human terms, Bonny.
Yes, isn't that really strange?

Re: Remember the Moon Landing deniers on the 3As?
Moon Landing Deniers don't even make sense, Lily. This all happened at the time of the space race between the US and USSR; for all anyone actually knew, Soviet cosmonauts could have landed on the Moon six months later....and found no trace of the US landings.
Which would have been deeply embarrassing, to put it mildly.

Re: Remember the Moon Landing deniers on the 3As?
Apparently, Russia and China are planning to put some kind of permanent base on the Moon in the next few years. Meanwhile, the US is still trying to re-invent a rocket that doesn't blow up on the launch pad. No, I have NO idea how NASA managed to go backwards.

Re: Remember the Moon Landing deniers on the 3As?
This Pres didn't fund the programs as needed and he has seemingly pushed American advances back.
I'm sure I read quite some time ago that the US would no longer be sending astronauts to the Space Station and they would have to hitch lifts with Russia?

Yes, that's the only way American astronauts can get up and down now, Lily - and for the foreseeable future. I personally don't hold out much hope for this Dragon system; it seems to blow up 50% of the time. Which doesn't matter now, but would matter very much if people were aboard.

Re: Remember the Moon Landing deniers on the 3As?
From your link:
NASA has been dependent on the Soyuz since the retirement of its space shuttle fleet in July 2011. The agency is currently encouraging American private spaceflight firms to develop their own astronaut taxis under its Commercial Crew Program.
There are a few things the State really does do best. And space travel, IMO, is one of them.

I think so too, Bonny. Probably because lots of money was thrown at it and they hired some great minds.

Re: Remember the Moon Landing deniers on the 3As?
There's also an element of national prestige and pride, Lily. That's something no private enterprise can supply, and it was absolutely criminal to stop the Shuttle programme, especially considering the money the US government throws away on God knows what.

You're quite right, Lily, there isn't actually a space station. It's all done with Lego and photoshop.
