Profitant que la maisonnée soit plongée dans un profond sommeil, il s'est introduit dans la chambre de la petite fille, située à l'étage, pour l'enlever. «Il l'a ensuite entraînée une dizaine de mètres plus loin dans un jardin privatif» a expliqué le procureur de la République de Cusset, Éric Mazaud. Plusieurs voisins ont alors été réveillés par les cris et les pleurs de l'enfant. «Je me suis levée et je suis allée à ma fenêtre. J'ai crié: Où es-tu? Où es-tu? raconte une riveraine au quotidien régional La Montagne. «A ce moment-là, j'ai vu un homme. Il sortait d'une impasse en réajustant son pantalon» poursuit-elle. L'homme a alors pris la fuite. Quant à la fillette, elle a été «retrouvée en état de choc». Elle a été examinée par un médecin. Selon le procureur, qui a fait le point sur l'enquête jeudi après-midi, la petite fille a déclaré aux enquêteurs que l'homme l'avait «jetée par la fenêtre». L'enfant a d'ailleurs «un hématome à la tête».
Probable «mobile d'ordre sexuel»

Les motivations du kidnappeur restent à déterminer. Toutefois,«il y a une forte suspicion que ce soit un mobile d'ordre sexuel, mais il est probable que l'individu ne soit pas parvenu à ses fins», selon le procureur Éric Mazaud. Jeudi soir, l'homme était toujours activement recherché. Une enquête de flagrance pour enlèvement de mineur a été ouverte et confiée au SRPJ de Clermont-Ferrand. Les enquêteurs tenteront de, «déterminer s'il y a eu attouchements à caractère sexuel, agression sexuelle, tentative de viol ou viol», a indiqué le procureur, tout en soulignant qu'il fallait prendre les témoignages avec une «extrême précaution» en raison de leurs «divergences».
