Wikileaks - massive release of information about the CIA
An enormous amount of information has been released, and specialists are now wading through it:
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-03-07/wikileaks-hold-press-conference-vault-7-release-8am-eastern
WikiLeaks has published what it claims is the largest ever release of confidential documents on the CIA. It includes more than 8,000 documents as part of ‘Vault 7’, a series of leaks on the agency, which have allegedly emerged from the CIA's Center For Cyber Intelligence in Langley, and which can be seen on the org chart below, which Wikileaks also released:
I will wait for those who know more than me to get to the meat of it.

The FAQ section of the release, shown below, provides further details on the extent of the leak, which was “obtained recently and covers through 2016”. The time period covered in the latest leak is between the years 2013 and 2016, according to the CIA timestamps on the documents themselves. Secondly, WikiLeaks has asserted that it has not mined the entire leak and has only verified it, asking that journalists and activists do the leg work.
Among the various techniques profiled by WikiLeaks is “Weeping Angel”, developed by the CIA's Embedded Devices Branch (EDB), which infests smart TVs, transforming them into covert microphones. After infestation, Weeping Angel places the target TV in a 'Fake-Off' mode, so that the owner falsely believes the TV is off when it is on. In 'Fake-Off' mode the TV operates as a bug, recording conversations in the room and sending them over the Internet to a covert CIA server.
As Kim Dotcom chimed in on Twitter, "CIA turns Smart TVs, iPhones, gaming consoles and many other consumer gadgets into open microphones" and added " CIA turned every Microsoft Windows PC in the world into spyware. Can activate backdoors on demand, including via Windows update"

Re: Wikileaks - massive release of information about the CIA
The former head of the CIA sought to calm anxious Americans who may be worried that the vaunted US spy agency is eavesdropping through their smart television sets.
Gen. Michael Hayden told Stephen Colbert of CBS' Late Show on Tuesday that the CIA does not spy on Americans.
Earlier on Tuesday, WikiLeaks unveiled what it says are official CIA documents showing that the agency has the capability to hack into smartphones and televisions, which it then uses to spy on people.
'I can tell you that these tools would not be used against an American,' Hayden told Colbert.
When Colbert pressed the point as to why the CIA wouldn't use the technology to gather information about Americans, Hayden replied: 'There are some bad people in the world who have Samsung TVs too.'

The CIA wouldn't spy on Americans? MWAAHAHAHAHAHAHA
The CIA's defenders don't seem to be grasping that in much of the real world, the agency isn't respected, it is hated and feared - with good reason, as they have done many absolutely horrible things.
The CIA would spy on Americans without a second thought; they've been out of control for years. Let us not forget, JFK was trying to shut them down before his unfortunate trip to Dallas.

Re: Wikileaks - massive release of information about the CIA
Quote from Heavy:
The video focuses on Kennedy’s relationship with Cuba prior to his assassination by Lee Harvey Oswald and discusses Operation Northwoods, a proposed false flag operation against the Fidel Castro regime, that originated within the U.S. Department of Defense. According to ABC News, “the plans reportedly included the possible assassination of Cuban émigrés, sinking boats of Cuban refugees on the high seas, hijacking planes, blowing up a U.S. ship, and even orchestrating violent terrorism in U.S. cities.”
Kennedy refused the plan, but the CIA still wanted to deal with Cuba.
In the video, Halpern says he could never figure out why the CIA wanted to punish Cuba so badly but that he thought maybe it had to do with hubris. It’s then stated that JFK was finding it increasingly difficult to keep former Director of Central Intelligence Allen Dulles “in line” and that the agency was becoming a “state within the state.”
A month before he was assassinated, the quote used for today’s WikiLeaks decryption passphrase was uttered by JFK, “I will splinter the CIA into a thousand pieces and scatter it into the wind.”
I am sure it was just an unfortunate coincidence that JFK's life was tragically cut short just a few weeks later.

Re: Wikileaks - massive release of information about the CIA
http://dailycaller.com/2017/03/08/wikileaks-claims-99-percent-of-its-cia-documents-not-yet-released/
Less than one percent of WikiLeaks’ CIA files were released in yesterday’s document dump, the anti-secrecy organization claimed Wednesday.
WikiLeaks has already indicated that its cache of stolen CIA files, which the group is calling “Vault 7,” will be dripped out over a series of releases.
The group used similar methods in publishing emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton campaign manager John Podesta.
Tuesday’s release revealed a global covert hacking operation by the CIA, showing how CIA hackers convert smart phones, Samsung TVs and other electronics into covert microphones used for spying. (RELATED: WikiLeaks Exposes CIA’s Covert Global Hacking Program)
WikiLeaks ✔ @wikileaks
WikiLeaks has released less than 1% of its #Vault7 series in its part one publication yesterday 'Year Zero'.
11:59 AM - 8 Mar 2017
WikiLeaks says it obtained the CIA files after the agency “lost control” of the documents after they began circulating among a 5,000-person network of former U.S. government hackers and contractors, one of whom WikiLeaks claims is the one who leaked the documents.
Preliminary reports indicate that the document dump could have a more significant impact than the Edward Snowden leaks in 2013, which revealed the extent of the NSA’s surveillance program
The CIA aren't just a menace, they're an incompetent menace.

Nigel Farage visited the Ecuadorian embassy in west London on Thursday, where WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been living since he claimed asylum in 2012.
The former UKIP leader spent around 40 minutes in the building and left at noon, accompanied by Christian Mitchell, the head of operations at radio station LBC, where Farage hosts a regular show.
Approached by BuzzFeed News as he left to get into a car waiting round the corner, Farage said he couldn’t remember what he had been doing in the building.
Asked specifically if he had gone to the Knightsbridge building to meet with Assange, Farage said: “I never discuss where I go or who I see.”
Nige must have the thumbdrive this time - Pamela Anderson was attracting too much attention.

Re: Wikileaks - massive release of information about the CIA
The implications of all this are horrifying, Lily, and I gather there is worse to come. Nige's visit to Assange is most interesting; I wonder if he was passing on messages in person that someone, say, a president, couldn't trust to any other means?
And it might be an idea for Trump to spend as little time as possible in the White House; God knows what Obama has left behind.
I should think AF 1 is safe, as it's under military control, and they had no great love for Obama.

I know there’s a lot that’s not to like about Trump and Bannon and all those guys. However, look at it this way: they are the only ones who can keep the doors of the vault from slamming shut for the rest of our lives, leaving time for y’all to wake up and find a president who doesn’t seek to turn your friends into your enemies. At least you’ll still have that choice.
With present-day Washington, Democrat or Republican, there’s no such choice. They’re CIA, as are the media. Kim Dotcom tweeted this too today:
