Just watched on youtube - where are the gimmicks, the dancing gorilla, the bearded transvestite, the Russian babuskas? It is a simple song, sung by a genuine performer, that's the answer!!! LL

I actually didn't mind the babushkas, LL, they had a sense of humour....but the bearded transvestite - OMG!

Without the beard and the frock, he/she/it didn't actually have much talent. I suspect he/she/it won because the judging panels wanted to virtue-signal how 'tolerant' they were.

Portugal was a worthy winner.
