Calpol banned shock
The Calpol debate still grinds on. The terminally stupid "Kathybelle" on MM wrote:
Regarding the question where the BBC World News reporter said that Kate McCann was asked if she had given her own medication to Madeleine, instead of Madeleine's own medication. You say that the medication in question could have been Calpol. Calpol was a banned substance in Portugal and many other European countries at the time of Madeleine's disappearance and for all I know it may still be banned in Portugal. Also the McCanns were asked in a television interview, if they gave their children Calpol and they said no. This contradicted statements by Brian Healey and Philomena McCann, who both said that Kate and Gerry McCann gave their children Calpol.
She seems to have obtained this information from the respected web encyclopedia "uncyclopedia".

Morais still seems to be unable to understand the simplest reality, insisting that Calpol night was launched in January 2007.

Re: Calpol banned shock
The McCanns were testing this potentially dangerous version of Calpol for the drug companies, Silly Sans. Everybody knows that. They had to give Madeleine too much of it to see if it would kill her. That's why it had to be covered up.
And it's interesting that it only took them five days. That is also why it says on the bottle, "Only administer for three days, and then consult your GP." GPs get paid for Consultations you see, although they also get paid for signing Death Certificates. But this is consider to be bad practice because they won't get any more Consultation Fees on that particular patient.

Don't worry about it, sans and HB, it's pretty harmless, and keeps them occupied. Think of it as the internet equivalent of basket weaving

So it is, Sans. We learned all about that when Kate took Cuddle Cat on an outing to The Mortuary in her cut off holiday trousers that she never washed before she went on holiday.

honestbroker wrote:Well, Amaral being (formerly) a red-hot detective specialising in apprehending criminals dealing in illicit drugs, he would have had the McCanns arrested and charged the instant they 'confessed', in their arguido interviews, to having in their possession on that holiday a substance banned in Portugal.
Wouldn't he?
He's saving that for later, HB. It's probably the ace up his sleeve.

Now, how does all this fit in with the McCanns' Xmas single?

Re: Calpol banned shock
Oh, Lord spare us....
According to Sky News the lawyers for the McScams will be in the court today to hear evidence re: phone hacking!
Me thinks McCanns are sh*tting themselves their calls were monitored!
Why would they be 'sh*tting themselves', to repeat that less than elegant phrase? Has it not yet dawned on them that actually, the McCanns are not hiding anything? One would have thought that would have sunk in by now, what with the McCanns begging the PM to get Scotland Yard involved, but apparently not.
Clearly in their bizarre, upside down world, begging the UK police to re-investigate you is a clear sign of guilt.
Oh wait, I know! Maybe the Evil McCanns are scared in case the details of their Xmas single will be leaked at the hacking enquiry?

I just think that it's a shame that gossip and misinformation spread like wildfire about this unfortunate family when a few minutes of intelligent research can show the flaws in the various whacky theories put forward to implicate them. The libel settlements included allegations of a cover up and embraced all the stuff about sedation and so forth. The tabloids, with all of the resources at their disposal, found nothing. The police found nothing. These parents allowed themselves to be a bit too relaxed whilst staying in what they may wrongly have assumed was a secure compound, and paid a terrible price.

My take on all of this is that very serious allegations require the most cogent of evidence to support them. 25 years of practical lawyering have shown me that this principle works well in practice and helps to safeguard fairness. Despite much digging, no cogent evidence, commensurate with the seriousness of the allegations made against the McCanns, has emerged. If the facts change, I might change my mind, but at present I think the presumption of innocence is writ large in the case.
I find the internet frenzy of often misinformed speculation unedifying (although par for the course on the internet), but the sheer malice which seems to underlie many of the speculations and wild assertions is rather depressing. Spend a few minutes looking at some of the many hate sites about this case and you may be amazed at how people can hate two perfect strangers so profoundly.
As for all the talk of carelessness in leaving the room unlocked and so forth (I think that this was careless, but not criminal), this sometimes leads on to a suggestion that the McCanns deserved what they got, in a manner analogous to discredited arguments that women in short skirts deserve to be raped.

I assume that is why they are so taken with B$own, as she thinks that way. According to B$own:
Teenage girls deserve to be beaten up, and their ordeal filmed, if they have spoken out of turn on the internet.
Rape victims are 'asking for it' if they wear short skirts.
Deceased rape victims haven't been raped at all.
Gunmen linked to Al Queda aren't terrorists because they haven't slaughtered people the way B$own thinks they should.
People who refuse to sell B$own alcohol at breakfast time deserve to be abused on the internet
etc, etc, etc.....
Oh, but if anyone dares object to B$own making up vile stories about them, involving treating their missing child like bushmeat, they should just roll their eyes and laugh it off.

People shouldn't put temptation in the way of Burglars, Murderers, Rapists, Paedophiles or Abductors. What else do you expect these poor misunderstood Criminals to do?

No worries, Tony, I seem to have lost the ability to spell or write grammatical English today; I keep making even more typos than usual.

Me too. My grammar on Hinky has gone to pot, and I have forgotten how to spell.
