BREAKING NEWS: Former singer and TV presenter Cilla Black dies aged 72

Cilla Black has died aged 72, police said today.
A Spanish police spokesman said: ‘I can confirm the death of British national Priscilla White, aged 72.
‘We are still awaiting autopsy results but everything at this stage is pointing towards her death being the result of natural causes.’
Most of the shutters were down at the entertainer’s house near Marbella this morning and there was no answer on the door.
However a light outside the property was on, a grey Seat Ibiza car was parked outside and the back patio doors appeared to be open.
A Spaniard who identified himself as a police officer was stood outside the front of the property talking on the phone before driving off in a Seat Alhambra car around midday.
Police sources said they thought the death had occurred overnight and they believed Black, who suffered from hearing problems and arthritis, had jetted to Spain a few days ago with one of her three sons.

That is so sad.  She could be quite funny and kind although I was not a fan of her singing.

It's most unexpected, Lily. Apart from the inevitable aches and pains, Cilla seemed to be in good health.

There is one thing, she had arthritis, doesn't say exactly which kind.  A friend's wife had rheumatoid  arthritis, and died very suddenly in her sleep.   RA sufferers do run the risk of heart attacks, which is why I have my heart checked twice a year.    Poor lass also had hearing problems.  LL

It was unexpected apparently.  I used to enjoy her TV show where she sang 'Step Inside Love' and others.  

She seemed like a genuinely nice person.  Yes, LL, I read about that also.  She had a cochlear implant as well as her arthritis.

At least she didn't have time to suffer.....

No, Lily, it looks as if Cilla just fell asleep and didn't wake up....there are worse ways to go, but a terrible shock for her family. 72 isn't really that old these days.

It would be a major shock but I guess in time they will take heart from the fact that she did not suffer and she is with her beloved late husband?  Plus, she had said she wanted to die before 75?  

It was not old at all.  Not these days anyway.
