Sky is broadcasting a lot of explosions from around that concert hall where the hostages are being held.

They could be stun grenades, the whole situation is chaotic, Lily.

Yes, it seems security forces are trying to get into the concert hall.

I pray that the hostages will be okay.

It's being reported that the hall has been stormed by police and the scum are dead, but no news on how many of the hostages have been harmed.

I get the impression that the authorities decided there was NO point in trying to negotiate with the terrorist scum; it's being said that some hostages managed to send out txt messages to say other hostages were being killed.

Oh no, that is so horrendous.

Something pretty horrible seems to have happened inside the theatre.

Oh God, it's being reported that there are about 100 dead in the concert hall.

:eek:Oh no.    So sad.   People are not going to take this sitting down............

To give him his due, Hollande has done well tonight, he didn't run away when the first bomb went off at the stadium he was in.

And he has closed the borders although that may be too late.

May have? It's a dead certainty. And entirely predictable.

The death toll is now 140 upwards.

There will be all hell to pay tomorrow?  Fights, riots, you name it?

Is this because France was taking part against ISIS?  If so, will the UK be next?

Do terrorists even need a reason, Lily? The whole object is to cause terror, which they most certainly have done, and get headlines - they don't think the way others do.

The UK is obviously at risk, but fingers crossed, it seems to be under slightly more control here. Remember, the IRA were blowing up England long before ISIS or Al Quaeda came along. And someone earlier pointed out that it's slightly harder to get heavy weapons into the UK because it's an island - which made me think this is a good time to concrete up the Channel Tunnel.

Criminals get some firearms easily, but they tend to be handguns and shotguns, not the real heavy duty stuff used by terrorists. Which will still kill people, but not as easily or quickly as things like AK 47s.

No, I reckon they will go for a softer, easier target - like Sweden or Germany...

They won't stop at France will they?  I hope they get every single thing that is coming to them, but that's just me.

It's pretty obvious that this had nothing to do with the unmourned demise of 'Jihad John' - there was too much planning and co-ordination. Not to mention Hollande being at the football match they targeted - they may have hoped to get near him, as European leaders tend not to have heavy security.

American Airlines Group, the world's biggest carrier by passenger traffic, said it was delaying flights to Paris in response to the attacks, though French airports remain open. American Airlines spokesman Joshua Freed said:

"Currently Charles de Gaulle International Airport is open, however, we are holding our remaining departures this evening to Paris until we have additional information"

That's a bit panicky, IMO.
