According to initial investigations by Munich police, the young man who went on a shooting rampage in Munich on Friday evening was a lone gunman without motive, not a terrorist.

After a search of the family home of the German-Iranian 18-year-old in the Maxvorstadt neighbourhood, police say they have found evidence which indicates an Amoklauf (lone rampage), the Süddeutsche Zeitung reports.

The Chief of Police in Munich said that the 18-year-old, who killed nine other people, had no relationship to terror group Isis.

Among other things police found newspaper articles and books which covered police operations during previous gun sprees.

According to BR one of the books was called 'Rampage - why students kill.'

Prosecutors said he seems to have been fascinated by gun sprees and believe that he had no other motive for his act.

Prosecutor Thomas Steinkraus-Koch said that the young man was likely suffering from a mental illness, possible depression.

State police have said that he was carrying 300 rounds of ammunition and that his gun was a Glock.

A postmortem on the killer suggest that he killed himself, as had been speculated during the night. It showed that he only had one bullet wound to the head.

According to BR, most of his victims were adolescents, including three with Kosovan nationality. Two of the victims were 15 year olds, three were 14 year olds and the others were 17, 19, 20 and 45 years of age.

Nine people were killed and another 16 wounded as the black-clad gunman brought terror to Germany's third largest city on Friday evening, before committing suicide.

"Bloodbath in Munich," was the headline on the best-selling Bild newspaper as shockwaves reverberated across the continent.

The killing spree sent the southern city into lockdown as elite police launched a massive operation to track down what had initially been thought to be up to three assailants.

The official version has more holes in it than a colander - and I'm not a conspiraloon. Why on EARTH would he be inspired by Breivik, of all people, when Breivik killed all those people to punish their parents for letting people like the Munich shooter into Norway?

Breivik must be wetting himself with laughter, this is utterly pathetic.

German police said the Glock 17 pistol used by the 18-year-old to kill nine people had its serial number scratched off but appeared to have originated in Slovakia and had been reactivated.

Police confirmed Sonboly had lured his victims to a shopping centre McDonalds using a fake Facebook account but said the victims - most of them teenagers - were not classmates of the gunman.

Bavarian prosecutor Thomas Steinkraus-Koch said: "It is not the case that he deliberately selected."...etc.

Where did he get the money? How was the transaction carried out? Many, many questions.....

The man has been arrested and was apparently acting alone, with police saying there is no evidence pointing to terrorism.

A Syrian refugee wielding a machete has killed a woman and injured two other people in the southern city Reutlingen, police say.

The 21-year-old man has been arrested and was apparently acting alone, they added.

Police have also told Sky News there is no evidence pointing to the incident being a terrorist attack.

Spokesman Bjoern Reusch said in a statement that witnesses said the man, who was known to police, was having an argument with the woman before attacking her about 4.30pm local time.

Police say the motive behind the attack is still not clear.

The attack comes as Germany is on edge, following a shooting rampage at a Munich shopping centre on Friday night in which nine people were killed, and an axe attack on a train a week ago that left five wounded.
